It’s a once off purchase if you buy the unlimited vins one.
If not then you,ll have a problem after u logged in on the amount of cars you have vin counts for. So of you buy the 3 vin model you,ll be able to work for now. Bit if you sell a car and buy another one then you have trouble.

Hi guys, is there anyone in the Pietermaritzburg area with the VCDS that can assist with service reset please.

    Would appreciate the help.

Btw is the Ross tech VDCS lite which you can download for free worth getting? Or is it just a teaser.

I managed to find a guy in PMB that could reset my service indicator. He charged me R100.

Only later on I realised that everytime I start the car now it is telling me that i have 15000km before my next service. This was never meant to be. You only meant to get a warning like 1500km before service is due.

Btw he did not use a laptop. He had a smaller device like a tablet if you like which is connected to the car with a cable.

What did he do wrong? He works on all makes of cars and spent most of his time with GM vehicles, Opel, Chev and Isuzu.

Just try to press the left hand button when the ignition is on to switch to the other field.

Hard to say what he did wrong. You could have teset yourself without a computer or scan tool. You switch of the ignition, then you hold the trip 0 button in while switchin on the ignition. Release the button and then press and release it again to reset it.

On most vws it will work to reset the oil service.

Wish I knew the manual reset procedure before.
Is this oil service the same reset you can do on the MMI? I did that but it did not take away the service due indicator.

The software is ‘free’, you cannot do anything without their cable.

You can get them from Hex diagnostics - in South Africa. Called Vag-Com or also known as VCDS. You get them in 3, 10 or unlimited VIN, each time you register a car for more than just reading the fault codes you register a VIN. In your case 5 cars so 3 VIN will not work, so you have to ask yourself 10 VIN or unlimited? (There is a price difference of course) so if you buy and sell your VW/ Audi you will eventually run out of VIN space. So depending what on your needs you will have to decide.
