Ek het my werk Amarok na Speedy toe gevat en hulle het dit vervang met n gewone pyp. Ek weet een van die Powerflow plekke by julle doen sulke tipe werk.

Good news for the Capetown (or any area infact) is that I have sourced a few pipes to build “floating” decatted/downpipes! I can courier the pipe down, and then you send your original back to me.
Or like mentioned, who can say no to a visit to Capetown, maybe time for a roadshow!

I had my Amarok de catted by John yesterday. We were driving from Umhlanga to Kruger Park and diverted to Joburg with the de cat as one of the main reasons.

This should be a “must do” for all Amarok owners!

Even though my Amarok (2016) is still under warranty I would have no hesitation in recommending it. I noticed a difference immediately. The engine feels more lively/willing and the auto box more responsive. The Amarok smile on your face will be a bit wider!

Expert workmanship at at no expense, with a chance to chat to an Amarok specialist.
    Thanks John!

Ek het onlangs my 2015 132kw 4Motion laat re-map deur Force Maps in Kaapstad. Ek stuur my ou pyp vir jou terug.

PM my jou nr of jy is welkom om my te kontak op 0826671897.

So JohnBoy, there seem to be enough guys interested in your services here in Cape Town. As Willem said, we can all contribute to your fuel bill, or, if you tell us what tools you will need, we can see how we can get that together. I can get you a return air ticket...somebody can set you up with accommodation etc. Stay a week...do some EGRs etc....

Shall we get a list of interested owners

When I contacted JohnBoy to arrange for the de-cat of my 2011, I happened to also mentioned that I am using a little water and I suspect the EGR to be the culprit.

The response from JohnBoy was that he would immediately get all the needed items to safely bypass the suspected EGR and at the same time, could perform the de-cat.

Both projects took him under two hours with amazing workmanship. He's a wealth of Amarok knowledge to soak up too!

I am no longer stressed about the fallout from a cracked EGR and now have slightly more "whistling" Amarok with a little more Pep.

    Thanks again JohnBoy.

I forgot when i were at JohnBoy to ask if he could before closing my CAT box weld in a straight pipe inside the CAT space..still wonder if it will make any difference..8)

Mine a bit more noisier engine wise as if the pipe blow out somewhere at the front.

Was the EGR cooler bypassed as well as the EGR valve itself?

Thank you so much John! My Rok is driving so much more effortlessly through the rpms with a lot less turbo lag.

Will log the performance stats to show the difference in performance, before and after.

Currently my Rok is on 160k and it has increased avg EGT's by 5%, up to 45 degrees with a drop in performace, before fitting the downpipe. This has improved a lot, just to get the numbers now!

I did my cat removal and EGR blank at Johns place on Monday evening. He is a fantastic bloke. Proper redneck who has bikes, lathes and pretty much every tool you can think of in his garage, and all this inside a complex in Greenstone. I was very impressed with his Tig Skills. Mine are rubbish.

I must say my cat was not looking too bad which was unexpected after 280k km. The front face was a bit gungy, but the rear surface was pretty clean and uncoloured. I am not sure if this is down to my slow driving style, or trying to exclusively use 10ppm diesel? Either way it was not as bad as I was expecting.

I have not noticed a huge difference in performance, but I usually change gears around 2000rpm, so not really pushing it hard. This weekend or next I will hook up the boat and then it will have to work hard so may show more difference. If you are getting anything done by him, you should also check out the intake mods he has done and he is busy with a snorkel made from Stainless as well. He also has a stainless catch can under construction.

All very cool fabrication in my view and a very nice guy.
