I decided to put a freeflow silencer in the rear section whilst finishing it off.

It is now dead quiet, can hardly tell the difference between standard and 76mm free flow.

Cost wise it has worked out less than R1000 cheaper doing it myself than it would have if I took it to Viper Exhausts.

Space is a bit tight down there, but with my 20mm body lift it all fits in rather well.

    Nice job John!

Has anyone tested/checked if removing of the CAT makes a difference in terms of fuel consumption/power when towing?

Would be nice if I can improve the fuel consumption a bit when towing. Currently is between 7 and 7.5 km/l for me.

Ek het my werk Amarok se cat uitgehaal. Dis die 90kw.

Geen verskil in brandstof verbruik, maar throttle response is baie beter, en hy begin vroeer boost.

Ek het my Cat ook laat uithaal vir R350. Nou is my brandstof verbruik effens hoer want ek houbvd Turbo fluit geluid dde01dde01dde01.

Johnboy - have you ever done a 2.0 Caddy de-cat? I have the 103kW DSG and it went into limp mode once or twice already, showing the cat icon on the dash. I would also consider doing the 76mm pipe all the way through.

I don't know Potch, but surely there is a reputable exhaust shop that can fit a down pipe for you.

I am going the 76mm exhaust route on the Amarok. A local shop is going to fit a ready made De Graaf system for me. Maybe they make a similiar setup for the Caddy.

Clubbie - I think the Caddy has a DPF and I don't really trust these "reputable" shops! It looks like Johnboy knows his way around a spanner and a welding machine and a VW.

    Ah ok.

Thing is, I am in the motor industry myself, so lucky I know who to trust. And the guy doing my work is a real petrol head and has a performance shop himself.

In your case, John is the man to go to. I have seen his work, and it is great.

This is what it looks like at the back of the motor. That thing is the size of a small planet...
