    Default Mabua Trip Report - A bit late

    SO here is my first ever trip report guys. A bit late as we went in August last year, but I had a rough year last year and never had the energy or frame of mind to sit and type one up. I knew I needed to though because the things we saw on this trip were out of this world and I know I needed to share it with fellow 4x4 and nature lovers.

    It does seem like a long report, but it's more pictures than reading! So have a look and enjoy.

    Thanks for sharing your wonderful experiences, especially with the big cats.

    Yet again it is notable how the lions in the Kalahari are not shy to visit the camps. In East Africa I was assured that although we might have lions in the vicinity, they largely steer clear of human contact and stay out of the campsites. This was true, it must be the Masai who condition them that humans are dangerous.

    To those visiting the open Kalahari camps for the first time, enjoy the lions but also treat them with respect!

    Agreed Stan. This was our first encounter with lions in camp and it was frightening to see how close they actually came without even taking notice of us. We were sitting at the edge of the A frame around the fire and they would just walk up to the tap and drink and look at as they nonchalantly walked around the camp.

    Thank you Donlux, very nice first trip report.

    We are heading for Khiding in April, I hope by then the bees have subsided. We are taking some unfenced camping novices and I do hope we have some lion encounters in camp, but not too scary

    Thanks Donlux.
    Those are the very same 3 males that SWAMBO bumped into on the way to the shower in the morning at Mabua. The more I shouted DONT RUN. The more she ran
    That bush around the campsite and shower at Mapaya really makes it dangerous. (but lekker)
    Problem we have now is that all other Parks etc are BORING

    @Peets

    I have the very basic entry level stuff. I am very new to photography and figured it would be fun with my love for Bots and wildlife.

    I bought a Canon 600D on a business trip to China & Hong Kong and then got myself the 70-300 standard lens. Nothing fancy or expensive. Once I had this I paid for a very basic introductory course on photography which I loved! So hopefully one day I will up my game and learn a bit more and have a decent set up. But for now at my level, I just can't bring my self to pay those prices....
