I built myself a cover for the bak. I was not going to spend R18000 on a canopy or R5000 for a tonneu cover... Instead I spent about R2000 on a steel lid

I painted it black afterwards. It locks and I added sliding bolts to the "klap" to keep that closed. Strong, secure and didn't cost too much

Had an inspiration wave and did some electrickery:

    1) Always bothered me having all these cables (GPS, dashcam) hanging around, so I fitted a USB socket into the front dome light. It's a dual socket so now the GPS and the dash-cam can be plugged in right there, no cables in the way (still need to fiddle a bit with the correct length USB cables...) There's always power so the sockets can be used even when the engine is off. The little green switch is used to switch power off for the USB socket when not in use.

    2) Speaking of cables in the way... WHAT was Isuzu thinking when they offered a mini-USB socket and an extension cable for plugging in your USB stick?? Here I soldered an extension cable onto the radio's mini-USB socket and relocated the socket into the upper cubbyhole using a normal USB socket. Now my 16GB of music is out of the way and NO CABLES DANGLING AROUND!

    Eish!!
Just got the old girl on the battery charger again for a boost.
Been standing way too long now.
Have to pump tyres every two weeks or so due to out of round and corroded alloy wheels - somehow related to previous off-road trips .....
Too BAD, SO SAD, JUST THE WAY IT IS FOR THE MOMENT.
Things can only get better from here on, right?

There is a cable which supplies those two "reading lights" with constant power, I just tapped into that cable to power that USB module.

It's one of those Lumeno (I think) modules you can buy at any outdoor store. Takes 12V in and the module does the rest regulating to 5V.

I changed those light bulbs to LED so they draw minimal amps. The USB draws 1A on 12V when charging a Phone and much less than that with the GPS and dash cam, should all still be within safe limits.
