Thanks XJ Junkie - would have preferred a Country model, but If this one is in a good condition, then the mods will come 8) 8)

So, went after work to view the Jeep and..... what a disappointment. Just to many irregularities to mention, but here is a few:

    1. Engine was overhauled in 2013 and no papers to support the work done.
    2. Last service was done in 2013
    3. It was definitely in a crash of some sorts, especially the back (reason for the resprayed bumper)
    4. Interior in good condition which is the only plus

According to the dealership he bought the Jeep from, he is the 3rd owner. Still can't believe that dealerships get away with selling this kind of crap.

    So the search continues.....

The best time to buy a good XJ at a bargain price seems to have been a few years ago.

    Hens teeth now.

Jip. You either get rubbish or you are going to have to fork out R80k for a pristine one

Mine is not up for sale, but if it was.....

DON'T buy it. Pristine it's not. But it wears each and every scar with pride. It was all my own doing over the past 17+ years.

OK, back to your search. What is your plan with the XJ? Are you planning on having a 'concourse winner' example, used for going to church over weekends... or are you planning on using it off-road where they are happier. If the latter, it's going to get scratches and dings with time.

If you can swing a spanner, it might be worth looking at a cheapie that's cosmetically in OK'ish nick. They are really not difficult, or that expensive to work on...
Work. It's a wealthy man's privilege, and a poor man' fate....

    Hi Oppers,

It will be a project vehicle, some mods etc..., all that I will do over time. So no Sunday vehicle , but my bush vehicle.

Doesn't have to be pristine, but it should get me excited, not like the one yesterday

Yesterday on the R44 going into Stellenbosch there was a White XJ for sale standing on the pavement. Looked to be in good nick. If you want I can stop there today and check specs and post some pics?

PS Sorry I have absolutely no info on spec, but worth a shot maybe.

    Jip, choked on that price....

Came across Davis Auto Sports in the US while searching for some XJ vids. They had a few good looking modified XJ's on their floor.
