We camped on stand no. 2 last weekend and I could see what you mean; if you're facing East you can see the lights. Didn't see this at the river campsites and we didn't hear the road. We did have some gumba-gumba coming from Hammanskraal this time which wasn't fun but not much you can do about that unfortunately.

Is it Warthogs close to Magaliesburg?? Neighbor to Askari Game Lodge?

We stayed in the chalets last year June-long weekend. At that stage they only started development of the camping area.

No complaints staying in the chalets, camping we still need to do. Their food was really good!!!

Please let us know if you visit :-)

I can truly recommend Bosfontein near Bela Bela. Was there this weekend, and was the perfect breakaway to spend some time with the wife and kids after 4 weeks of working unscheduled overtime.

Has anyone been to Nkwe in Pretoria within the last few months? I am seeing some some good reviews for 2017, but some concerning ones for 2018.

Yes pls I to would like to know, as I just bought a Canvas Bow tent and need places to test it out near Pretoria, before starting to do big trips.

I think there are better places, maybe slightly further, to spend one's money. Look at Dinokeng.

I would avoid this place like the plague!!!

Had a booking for this coming long weekend, confirmed and payed in full.
Suddenly on the 11 September I get told there is a problem they have double booked, and now can't accommodate me. I was obviously annoyed, but mistakes happen.
Were now sitting 19 September, and I still have not been reimbursed, this after they blatantly lied to me and said the transaction had been done on the 13th.
The excuses are endless...and so are the lies.

    Hi Folks,

    I've started reviewing campsites on YouTube;
    http://bit.ly/2QZ1DNi

The focus will be bushcamps (until I run out of those) and I will do at least one a month. Please have a look, like (or smash it) / comment / subscribe!

    Cheers,
    Christoff

I enjoyed your Tsendze and Waterberg Wilderness reviews. They are both favorite spots of ours. Looking forward to your future ones.

Christoff, they are excellent and I enjoyed watching them a great deal. I immediately subscribed to the channel. Only disappointment was that I was craving for more after watching the second one.

Thanks Gerhard I'll be releasing one campsite review and maybe one other video a month (more if I'm able). Next one should be ready in the next two weeks or so

We are booked at Almega this coming weekend for the very first time. Any feedback from anybody that has been there before? We believe it is an excellent place to camp?

I think it's really nice as far as traditional camp grounds go. The stands are large and the private ablutions are a nice touch

I was there beginning of November 2018. Had a great time, I felt save they have 2 gates surrounding the property.
There were some students that were loud, but they did settle down later.
I would not do a week long trip there but for a quick weekend getaway, that is really really close by, especially for me that just want to test out new gear before the longer trips it was more than sufficient.
