Default Need help with broken fuel gauge willys cj6

Hi We are busy repairing our CJ6 jeep and while taking out the speedo we managed to destroy the fuel gauge. There was a rusted old nut on one of the 3 back terminals and while trying to loosen it, the wires and mechanism inside the gauge broke.
Can anyone give a suggestion on how/where to fix it or where we can buy another one?

There is also a small hole in one of the fuel tanks. What would be the best way to fix this?

I am from the western cape. (Cape Town, Gansbaai)

Midas will have a selection of analogue fuel gauges. Smith gauges would be the best, I reckon.

Take the fuel tank to Silverton Radiators, don't try weld a fuel tank yourself unless you like dying.

At least I can say that I thought about that one

We have taken out the gearbox as the reverse was jumping out and are getting a new gear machined. Attached is a pic of the broken gear.

Also a pic of the Jeep. Still running but in need of some TLC. I think its a CJ6 but have to check VIN number.

Not all sender units work on the same resistance range. Unless you buy a gauge/ sender unit set, it is better to buy the original gauge. I have twice imported a gauge only to find that I had the wrong sender unit for the gauge. Very expensive school fees.

Phone Mickey Harris from Jeep Spares for both the gear and the gauge -0125677516.

The reverse gear often does not go so he may have a new/used good one which is preferable to welding.

Replace the synchros and all needle bearings while you are in there to avoid having to do so in future.
