    Default Passarge

    Hi everyone,
I'm new on this site. I am a wildlife photographer, and I travel a lot on my own in Botswana. Going back to CKGR, and have been several times to Piper Pan and Letiahau, also deception valley. But never before to Passarge. I got a booking for Passarge 3, in March. But reading other threads it seems this is not a good site? On the map it seems there is a waterhole near nr 3, so that is why I chose that one. Is that waterhole still working? and can anyone give me more info on the site? How is the ground that side? sand or mud? Don't like to get stuck in the mud on my own. Been there, done that! Thanks a lot!

Firstly, I don't think there are any "bad" sites in CKGR, only "better" ones.

#3 is close to the waterhole, on a slight ridge. Site is sandy. If you have a roof top tent you will probably clear the tree line and have a great view. It is nice and secluded.

Welcome to the forum, as RraBots says, no bad sites in CKGR, I can second that.

I found No3 a bit overgrown and vistas were not great for animal spotting.
Birds however might be different as they are not "long distance objects".

The site is slightly slanting but all sandy so no risk to get muddy.
If you are there for longer it's a good site to explore as it connects both ways, the Passarge valley and back to the dune landscape towards Tau and Piper.

    Thanks RraBots and Kalahari Safari!
no I don't have a rooftoptent, prefer being on the ground, and it's easier to take off early in the morning.
I would agree about no bad places in CKGR.
so far Piper and Letiahau are my favourites. Sand is good .
don't mind trees, it gives better shade during day.
I'm not so much interested in birdphotography, although love watching them, I'm mainly looking for open grassy plains, and any kind of animals in it, not only predators. If you wish, you can have a look at my website: http://www.carole-wildlife.com/Portf...-Thirstland-1/

how is the road from Passarge to Piper? is it soft sand? driving with trailer.

    Well Carole,

If you make it to Passarge 3 with trailer then you would make it to piper as well.
The landscape is basically dune veld with some elevations of say 10 meter from valley with grassland.
Dunes are covered with shrub or smallish trees, most of the stretch is good twee spur sand tacks with occasional crossing of some clay pan (dusty when dry, slippery when wet).

But now when you show your pictures, I must say you might miss out with Passarge3 as there is no view into the valley below and you might not see what's going on when in camp.
For this Passarge2 would be better, alternatively Passarge1 and then access to Leopard and Sunday Pan valleys

    Kalahari Safari,
thanks for letting me know. Felt like I was making a mistake in going there. Will ask for Passarge 1 or 2 then. Which would you prefer? I thought 1 because it's closer to sunday pan waterhole?
