I doubt you will hear from them. I waited and waited as have others...another reason for me to go to BL who answer quickly. In today's times there is no excuse for being slack on email enquiries, no matter how busy you are.

    Default Serval vs Miskruier

Been there, done that...

We set up our "kuier" area in the shade if shade is available. The kitchen area is always in the shade of the wing and is also on the opposite side of the sun. I do not do the afternoon nap thing, life's too short so I only enter the van at night when things cool down .

Solar panel alone on the roof does not work 100% for us. I have one on the roof of my commander and one which I can move around as I need. 80% of the time you camp in shade and that goes for Bots as well. If you only have 1 panel I will not go for a fix panel on the roof.

Have to say the BL ratel looks like a winner.

If you can't get replies on emails requesting information for a possible purchase, what response can you expect after sales...

I wasn't expecting the number of responses and I'm so glad for this. I'm a very black and white type of person and believe that after a lot of deliberation there has to be a right and a wrong or a better and worst to every question. What I have found is that the right or wrong is a very individual thing... what is right for me may not be right for another person. but I cannot rest until I've found what is right for me.

Someone mentioned about what / how we came to a decision in the times before the internet and forums like this...
The problem is that sometimes we only found the "right" answer, after our purchase.
Finding you didn't even know that someone has created just what you want, standing next to you in the caravan park...
Just to find that I have not purchased what was right for me too late.

SO, I may be wrong, but I'm very glad for forums like this that can point out small little variables like..
    * the slanted roof, which may be good or bad when one considers solar panels, or
    * the placement of the dish washing set-up...

At least one can make an slightly more informed decision without having to travel to Durban or Cape Town.

Thanx again for everyone that took the time to post their preferences and opinion.
I really do feel we are fortunate to have both these models here in SA. I'm sure the guys in Australia and elsewhere must be very jealous.

... and then just when you made up your mind and made your purchase something new arrives on the market which would have been first choice compared to your recent purchase, had it been available at the time of buying :-)

Any idea where I can find these? And price idea? Since we still only have the bakkie any space saver is welcome. Tx

Camp world Loftus keep them, so do ODW but they are much more expensive. Price from R199.

Not sure if you've bought since your last post but this is my experience.

We were down to two: Serval or Boskriek and it was a very, very close race.

We chose the Boskriek for 4 reasons: It can comfortably fit into our garage, the awning, service center in Centurion and last but not least, the massive amount of positive feeedback from owners and people that have dealt with the company.

Kitchen layout definitely goes to the Serval, but we won't lose any sleep over that. Most of our cooking is done on the open fire and weather permitting, the kitchen area is literally just a place to chop up veggies, make braai broodjies and coffee.

Anyone have an idea what a Serval costs? Price ideally should include the fridge.

The fridge is standard in all Afrispoor campers......

Also remember, the second generation Serval has been released in the past few months, all same as the first Serval except it now has the Cheetah roof, so no more " bar" to climb under to get into the bed........

As for the price, it will depend on what options you take, IE. awning type, tire size, gas bottles, jerry cans etc.

I have just checked with Afrispoor and the base price (without VAT) is
    R 228 000.00.

    Hope that helps..........
