Default Road condition Ivory Road Mafefe to Lekgalameetse Makhutsi

I plan to do a trip during December to Limpopo around Lekgalameetse Nature reserve. Does anyone know what the road condition between the Ivory Road Mafefe Camp and the Makhutsi Chalets in Lekgalameetse Nature reserve throught the southern (unmanned) gate of Lekgalameetse is. The latest reference I found on the web to this route was an article published on 4WDTruck where two guys took on the road with a Fortuner 4X4 with some proper recovery gear. Not clear if the Fortuner was modified. I plan to travel solo with the family with a Fortuner 4X4 standard but do not feel too comfortable with serious potential recovery. SWAMBO does not think recovery is fun and Bulletjie is only 10 years old.
Any road knowledge will be appreciated.

Best to contact the Lekgalameetse office - with the rain that fell in that area since the weekend you may encounter impassable roads.

    Did you do this route?
I would not recommend going only one vehicle, to be safe, at least three!
The roads there are not maintained by anyone but the adventurers taking it on.
Roof racks with tents and other high gear on top is also not recommended because of the vegetation ... There is a possibility of tearing your roof top tents apart..
