T4A on Nuvi 200

I use a Garmin 276C with a 512 meg memory card and loaded all the T4A and some Garmap maps on it, total of app. 180 meg, not having any problems.

My brother in law bought a Nuvi 200 with a 1 gig SD card. When trying to load the same mapset onto the Nuvi it said I must reduce the size as only 64 meg is available. The Nuvi only has a small useless manual so I could not figure out what you must do to format the SD card or to make the GPS to see the card. Any help will be appreciated.

Are you sure you are not trying to load the maps to the Nuvi's internal memory, rather than to the SD card? Are you using Mapsource? Connect the Nuvi to your pc with the USB cable, and browse the SD card with explorer to see what is on it. The SD card will show up as a removable drive (incidentally, so will the Nuvi's internal drive). The SD card drive will usually be called something like "Garmap" or "SASM", the Nuvi's internal drive will be called "Garmin".
