Default Addis to Moyale: which is the best way ?

Good day, soon I'm driving Addis to Moyale and would like to know what is the best way from Shashemene: directly south via Dila and Finchawa or around the lake via Arba Minch and Konso. I'm aware this way is longer (around 150 kms) but I did recently via Finchawa and road constructions made it really long and boring. Any updates will be highly appreciated, thanks a lot.

It's been many years since I've done the route, so I have no idea what the road conditions are like currently, but a very beautiful route (but much, much longer) is to go from Shashemene to Dinsho and then over the Bale Mountains (Sanetti Plateau) and rejoin the main road south at Agere Maryam. I haven't done the route via Arba Minch and Konso.

The road to Konso is good. Reasonable tar, no roadworks, lovely countryside and Arba Minch is really quite a nice town (as of June 2015). We went to Omorate from Konso so not sure of the Konso-Moyale leg. We never did the standard Moyale Yabello- Dila route: we turned East at Yabello and then to Bale and across the Sametti Plateau. Astonishing but waaay tough! Tony's standalone-roadtrip-of-a-detour is a lot more manageable ;-)

Thanks a lot, just got fine to Moyale via Dila and Finchawa. Bad potholed road in some parts, but generally no problems. The quickest route in the south.
