Verniet vanoggend by Gansbaai en Pearly Brach probeer.. Geen permitte beskikbaar![]()

is the fishing permits that are not available
Ons was 2 naweke gelede daar in.

Yes
They don't allow you in with only a wildcard.. Must show valid fishing lisence..

Sopas gehoor geen hengel toegelaat in Overstrand agv Hotspotstatus.. So res vd vakansie hier in die Kelders gaan maar boring wees.. Tussen Alikruk uithaal, visvang en braai by die see elke tweede dag, en nou bonop drankies rantsoneer oorweeg ek 'n vroeë terugkeer huistoe,

Dis fake news.

The 15 December regulations made it clear that “the closure of beaches and restrictions on times of operation do not apply to fisherman…..who are in possession of a permit……”.
Evidently “the closure of beaches” refers to the hotspot beaches, whereas the “restrictions on times” bears reference to the curfew periods at open beaches. There would be no other reason to use the two terms next to each other in the same sentence. And this is how it has been applied. Until this morning, it seems.
In some areas Law Enforcers now tell local fishermen at hotspot beaches that they cannot go fishing anymore, not even with a permit. And the reason for that would seem to lie in the way the latest regulations had been set out.
The 28 December regulations has the exact same wording, but the layout is now as follows:
36 Gatherings
(9) All beaches…..are closed to the public in all the areas declared as hotspots.
(10)
(a) Beaches that are open to the public in non-hospots shall –
Only be open between 06h00 and 19h00; and …..
(b) The closure of beaches and restrictions on times of operation do not apply to fisherman…..who are in possession of a permit…….
What you now have is that Law Enforcers interpret this as follows: because the permit exception appears under paragraph (10) which deals with non-hotspot beaches, they argue that it applies only to non-hotspot beaches. By contrast, it is argued, because paragraph (9) that deals with hotspot beaches does not also have a provision for the exception of fisherman, it must be understood that it was intended to exclude the fishermen exception for hotspot beaches.
I understand that the minister has since said on TV that the exception does apply also to hotspot beaches.
So the minister never intended to exclude fishermen from the hotspot beaches. In addition, as the exception still applies also to “closure of beaches”, it can only mean that it was intended to refer to the hotspot closed beaches.
Problem is, how does one go about convincing Law Enforcement about this without political pressure for the minister to rectify the position?

Hi All
We are planning a trip to Gansnbaai for the long weekend in March, 19 - 22 March. We will camp at Strandkloof, but would love to get to Spookdorp. None of us has been there.
We hope that all COVID related restrictions have been lifted and will plan as such.
Could anyone please explain what permit we need to get where to visit the Spookdorp, maybe have a contact number?
Anyone is welcome to join off course.
Cheers

Hi. I'll probably be there. There is strictly speaking no permit required, but if you drive in the other areas of the Walker Bay Nature Reserve a permit IS required, which is R50 pp, but if you have a wild card the usual fees apply etc. There are great areas to go drive and see and not vehicle breakers and mommy and the "mini me's/shorties" can also join and enjoy. You can WhatsApp me on owe ate too, for nayin 6 9934 and then can chat like that. Cheers. Z

Just an update, was a bit bored today so drove there,, getting to be a fun drive. Also, the houses are literally disappearing, brick by brick, due to low cost housing reclaimers chipping the bricks out and carting them away.
There are a few of them, so should be something to see for a while yet.
Have also found the best sundowner spot on the western side of Gansbaai, blanket, beers and cheese and quackers.
