Tsendze Camp

Hi all, I am planning a trip to the Kruger Park and plan to stay at Tsendze (or Tsende as sometimes referred to), when booking they ask that you select a site. Now not having been before I do not know which site is best for us and was hoping someone who has could guide me, this is what we would like:-

[LIST][*]Tranquility[*]Shade[*]More towards the outskirts of the camp, closer to the fence/wildlife[*]Private[*]Not near roads as to dust and noise[*]not to worried about ablutions[*]Most important, we are in a off-road caravan and need space for the van and easy access for setting up.

Any other info related to this camp will be appreciated eg - watering holes, best game viewing sites, off-road requirements etc

Attached is a map and simply letting me have the site number best meeting the above will help tremendously.

3 & 13 are nice sites we've stayed on before with shade for large parts of the day.


Hard to visualise the sites we have not stayed on.


Nice stand layout map though - stands 18 & 23 also look quite secluded. Not sure about shade although you need sun for your solar panel.

my suggestion is 22, 25, 26 or 27 - they are all lovely spacious shady stands against the fence but still comfortably close to the ablutions

But 22, 24, 25 26 27 and 29 all good as well. All those are on the western side, so afternoon shade does unfortunately not exist there.......

We were a group that stayed on 21, 23 and 24 3 weeks ago. The map doesn't do it justice to the distance from the fence. From 24 we could barely see the fence and it looks out over the Mooiplaats picknick spot. You can see the cars and braai areas from a distance. There is mostly shade during the day so you would need a 20m cord for your solar panels.
From driving around the campsite I would suggest 25 to 28 if you want to be close to the fence, but then there is not much shade. Also, there is a walking path around the camp so if you are against the fence you can expect people to be walking/jogging past in close proximity.

Sites 26 and 14 are our favourites , 26 is right by the fence and 14 is a distance from the fence but you feel very secluded there as nobody wanders by the ablutions are close to 26 yet quite far from 14

There are prize camp sites, but the camp itself is great no matter where you find a spot.When camping there ask the game guide to show you the owls, during the day you can get to about 1metre and the y nest about shoulder height in the thickets.
Also at the end opposite to the gate, there is a pedestrian gate that you can use to access the lookout point on the northern side of the camp.

Got stand 6&7 for 4 nights in about 2 weeks time! Hope they are ok;

6 is nice and right on the fence. We watched the elephants arrive at the camp, right up against the fence at 6.

7 is quite exposed and close to the road through the camp, with no privacy. It also leads straight onto 6. 5 is very close to 6.

We shared 5 and 6 with good friends of ours and basically made a single campsite of the 2 sites.

Your in the Kruger....Anywhere is good.
I have personal experience of 5 & 6. Elephant against the fence and also look for the resident owl

We camped on 28 three weeks ago. Nice big site, next to fence with shade at the braai stand side. It was very wet though and we did not see much game at the fence

we camped there in 2012; walked the camp ; also next to the fence a ellie mock charged ; later that day an ellie came thru the fence ; the park rangers were called in ; at +- 9:30 pm 3 shots were fired to turn the ellie away ; great place ; will be camping there again next Month .;

Well, in my opinion that area is what you make off it. Just be positive and it will grow on you. Been going to the Park since childhood and this is the only place where I ever saw reed-buck and roan antelope. Also the largest herds of eland and buffalo you can imagine. And then of course, a LOT less tourists of certain kind as well as OSV's

There are some "plains" close to Tsendze, after the "wetlands". Excellent game viewing, but limited in size.

Yours truly? Well I have the whole half of Balule (all six huts) booked for 4 days over a long weekend in March. How you say? Blind luck I guess...

Liked 27 when I camped there, but that was few years back
