    Default Jimny Clutch Cost

    Hi Guys,

I think my 2010 Jimny's clutch is a bit tired now....I have done 130 000km and the clutch is now making quite a sound when depressed. I haven't driven through mud for along time and I have lubed the cable and tried all the other tricks to quiten the clutch...but I think it is near time to change it.

No time to do it myself and I wont take it to the stealers - any ideas of the cost at a regular mechanic shop and which brand is best?

    Thanks

Wizerd did mine - supply genuine OEM, and fit, for under R6k. This was about 6 months ago. Its a long, complicated, awkward, and #### job to do on the driveway or garage floor......

My opinion, it was money well spent.

The scratchy/grinding sound when pressing in, could very well be the stupidly exposed cable point under the right hand side of the vehicle. I clean it out every now and then.

As for the clutches, I think I can use some new plates or some such, and im not even at 45 000

If it only noisy with the clutch pedal depressed it might be the bearing.

    Good afternoon,

My clutch is also starting to fail. The pedal is hard and make a screeching noise when pressed. The clutch also only takes at the very end being released. Has anyone done a replacement recently and know what I am in for financially? Any recommendations for replacement shops in the West Rand area?

Wizard also did mine on my ex-jimny a few years back. They had no problem in coming to collect my Jimny in Centurion at that point. And they brought it back. Maybe give them a shout?

Also replaced clutch on my Jimny @ 170K km. Got a LUK clutchkit from Autozone, but Midas, ir every good parts supplier should have. Cost was R2300 in June 2019

LUK clutch kit part no: 619302860
    Valeo: 826300
    Unipart: GCK2535AF

    Also forgot to mention:
Easier to remove the engine than to try and remove/move gearbox and TFC. Some electrical connectors are located in very funny hidden-away places, but once the engine is out, you've got space to work, and also easier to change the throw out bearing on the gearbox. Also remember to replace the pilot bearing on the flywheel...

My mechanic brother did it like that. His comment: It's a shirty job to try and do it from underneath the car...
