Default 2007 Discovery D3 gearbox issues

I am experiencing the following problems withe gearbox
1)When accelerating against a slight uphill it gives the impression that it is lazy( even in first) then 9/10 times after that it comes out with a transmission fault and it remains stuck in one gear, after a restart everything is fine again
    2) Sometimes driving a bit harder than the normal Sunday afternoon drive the gearbox reacts funny, sometimes takes a long time before changing gears( Close toe the red zone), then it gives a huge jump when changing to the next gear other times I have to slowdown to almost 0, accelerate slowly and everything is fine.

If I drive very carefully, even with trailer I am able to drive without any issues but I do not like the fact that I cannot predict what it is going to do next, and I have to drive it like a 1600.

I will appreciate any advice or recommendation on who will be able to service the gearbox and solve the problems

    Hi greyneke

take it to "The Gearbox Company" in Midrand (Sean Riley) and ask them to sort it out.

Start with a gearbox oil and filter service with double flush and add Dr. Trannyfix "Muti".

I only use Sean for gearbox related stuff, and he has never let me down.

    Hi greyneke

if you did the gearbox service, then I would also look into the "electronic side" of this problem.

Speak to Sean and get his advise on that. For tracing and fixing elusive electronic issues, Landyworx is your #1 port of call.

    Hi Greyneke

As you know the D3 is equiped with the ZF 6speed (6HP26X) auto transmission.

    1. Did you have the same problem before the oil change?
    2. Is that why you did the oil change?
    3. What type of oil was used during the service?
    4. Was the filter sump assembly replaced?
    5. Was the adaption values checked prior to changing the transmission oil?

You can bring your car in to ZF Services South Africa for a free diagnostic check, we will then check the adaption values, read the fault codes, check the oil level and oil quality. We can also reset your transmission to see if there is any improvement in the shift quality/behaviour.

Please see the link below for our current oil change specials:

Had a slight shudder and running up high revs before changing from 2 to 3. Indie did an adaption some mnths ago but after a while no real improvement although it only happened once or twice a week.
Took the special at ZF Stikland and filled with the more expensive LG8. I suspect it's the first time after 193,000k's. Also had the adaption done.
Impressed with them and Ruan gave excellent diagnostic info and support.
