Default Leaving a car for more than 3 months in Tanzania?

    Hi All,
Im currently travelling in Tanzania, in my Australian reg. Defender, which is under a Carnet. I have found a place to leave the car while I go back to work in November. The issue is that it will be left for longer than 3 months, and as far as I can understand, that is over the limit.
Anyone have any experience with this?

    Cheers, Ib.

    Hi!

As long as you have a carnet this is no problem at all. We did this several times.
You might however have to pay the "road toll" for the entire period when leaving the country (depends on the border post, time of the day and month).

    So long

    Hello,
under the following link there is a place mentioned (No. 4) near Dar (although a German website)
    http://www.dt800.de/parken-in-afrika..._Tanzania.html
The road toll is a monthly fee of 20$ to use the TZ roads and has to be paid by every foreign vehicle; if holding a carnet it saves you buying a temporary import permit only.

Thanks Fips, but the email given is no longer valid. I found a place in this thread.
