    Question Renault Sandero (0.9 Turbo)

    Hi everyone,

I want to buy a car for my son at Stellenbosch University. I was thinking of the Renault Sandero 0.9L Turbo. I was thinking of getting him a new or demo model. The reason being:
    - Lots of bang for your buck
    - The car will be standing outside and needs to have low risk of being stolen
    - It does come with a service plan - so don't need to worry about servicing.
    - My budget allows for the Expression, he wants the Dynamique!

So - Any thoughts on this car? Any one have a low demo for sale?

    Thx
    Marius

Not many fans of Renault on this forum....

I had the previous shape Sandero and my daughter has the 0.9l turbo Clio. The Clio is an awesome car, no problems at all - its almost 2 years old now. Also no issues with the Sandero for the 4 years we had it.

I think they are rather solid.

Much much better than the first Sandero build quality wise.

We have a Megane 1.9dCi in the family 227,000 trouble free kilometers and still returns 16km/l!

In fact I am seriously considering getting one myself you get a lot of car for your money.

I think Renault are very underrated and have made serious leaps forward in the last few years in so far as their overall offering is concerned.

    Hi
My sister has one for almost a year.
No issues with vehicle mostly bad service from the Dealership.
She change from Cresta to Rosebank and much happier now.

Car is solid, consumption decent, nicely equipped for a entry level car.

Go for a test drive and see how it suit you.

    Good luck

Son? Stellenbosch? Yes, get him the 900cc and then remove the turbo.

Buy it, brilliant car, buy demo dynamique, worth it, mine has had zero issues. Had a loose door rubber. Did brakes in front, R6oo. Squeeze renualt, they can cut the price quite a bit. Dealer services is ok. Seen worse. 13km p liter heavy traffic, heavy foot. Easy driving 2okm + i have done 3o ooo kms now. It pulls very well!

Hi everyone, thanks for the advice! I decided to go for the Dynamique and ended up buying a 1 month old Stepway "second hand" with 35Km!! on the clock for a little more than the cost of a Dynamique! Very impressed with the car so far!

SWAMBO now wants to keep the car for herself and send her Fortuner down to Stellenbosch! LOL

    Thanks again for the advice

Last week my service costs were , R101 pollen filter, 76 for 3 plugs, 160 for oil filter, 354 for oil(elf 5w-40) air filter 150. R700 labour... Total 1800, in todays world that not bad. This was at renault. Brake pads were only R600(from renault), midas could supply them also at R530.. The sandero is fairly cheap to run. They did say with this model they want to have a car thats running costs are one of the cheapest out there to run. They selling a lot of these sanderos. So later on in life spares should not be an issue

    Good article. Glad we've got a Fiat 500 & a Renault:

Interesting, in the Family favourites category there are 2 Corollas in 1st & 2nd, but then an Alfa Giulietta in 3rd place!

    Then Compact crossovers
    1 Toyota Avanza
    2 Ford Eco Sport
    3 Renault Duster
