Ha ha Roelf. Nope , no recalls I am aware of.

I did the attachment from my phone in both cases but the second photo never appeared in the post even though it showed as uploaded.

I want to have mine done too, did some serious gravel in the week and will be doing on a regular basis so it has to be done. There's quite a few Gen 4's in my neighbourhood, I know as I wave at all of them. Especially a new white one driven by a uuhhm anyway what did you say Mitsu? Choose words etc..

I could try and get a few together for the fix and then the weekend by the beach thing discussed some time ago can take place.

    Jokes aside:
The effort by John, Kurt and Ian (who I have not had the pleasure of meeting) is legendary.

I had a set of "Mitsu brackets" installed by the dealer under warranty, didn't really help. Then Mitsu had one of their top technical guys (who pioneered the "field fix" brackets) come down to the Lowveld and install a new set. That had a big positive outcome, but I still had a way below par dash. Next was the first Pajero group fix at Kurt's house. What a fun day! There John fitted his cable ties. That made a big difference to the actual dash rattles. But stil, after all that work, the dash was unacceptable and honestly, embarrassing for such a lovely car. Next was a set of John's brackets. That day he kept my car back to afford him ample time to fix it. He fitted his brackets AND we retained the Mitsu set. Then John systematically stripped the trimming inside my car and inserted rubber strips all over the place. We were standing around a braai fire before he was finished with my car. John for President I say.
A few weeks later I drove through to Pretoria to visit Cloyd and to fit his spare wheel lift bracket. That morning included a spin in his monster Cobra.

At this point my 7th Pajero was as good as it was ever going to get and ready to quietly join me in my soon to be retirement. It was my keeper, no doubt. On my way back from Pretoria a new rattle started under the front passenger seat. I leaned in, fiddled and found the culprit. A stupid little plastic cover of some description. I yanked it off and (without thinking about littering or other people's safety) threw it out the window. Before the next weekend my lovely Pajero was sold and gone.
Somewhere in my signature it says still missing my Pajero... Man, is that true!!!

I often feel I broke John and Kurt's trust and dedication, but I just couldn't face another rattle!!

Roelf, nothing is forever. When we started the fixes back then we also were learning and experimenting so we did not have all the answers.
My personal vehicle is about as good as an older model can get but I have spent loads of time in it.
It should not be neccesary to do these things to such a great car.
Before I fixed my issues i too was looking at going back to the triton, but the more i drove bad roads and long distances the more i realised the rattles are a minor issue NOW for me as this car is superb in so many other ways.
We appreciate your input and sharing of the issue as it was the stepping stone for me to find a fix

    John,
    You are right, of course.
I remember starting that first post.
I remember a meeting with the Mitsu SA CEO and their marketing manager. At that meeting the dash didn't even feature, we were just trying to find common ground between POCSA and Mitsu.
One has to assume they keep an eye on posts, because the offer to send their guru, with his brackets, came out of the blue.
The various dealings I had with Mitsu over the years never left a bad taste in my mouth. I think they are a decent group of blokes that try and deliver with vehicles that are great, but sales just never really got off the ground.
If your sales are suppressed, then it becomes very challenging to follow the ideal business and service delivery model.

Being new to the Pajero clan it is surprising that such a great vehicle has an irritating problem like this. And to add all round they are great vehicles. Even the ASX is a great vehicle. So it is a real pity they got it wrong. With the imminent introduction of the new Triton they still have a chance to fix it. I hope. Not sure what the plan is with the Pajero Sport. And the mix with that Spagetti lot.

Roelf, one day you will tell us why you did this to yourself.

Mitsu no, more a thumbsup to say"lekkerman" than a wave. I was last in a proper Land Rover in 1976 I think as a youngster driving around with dad in the state issue Series something bakkie. So I have no idea how to do the LR wave.

We are up to at least 96 installations, not sure how many IanH has done since our last chat but we may even be up to 100

Nope, no issues with the Sport. Remember it's not only the rattles, we stabilize the whole center section of the dash with the installation of stabilizing brackets. The rattle fixes are secondary. It's a design fault that we sort out.

Oh ok... My steering column felt a bit shaky and loose when I went through Prince Alfred's in December, but I asked Mitsu to check it out, and the bit of gravel I have driven lately it felt sorted.. So I was just curious

There are no plans to come down but if there is enough interest I'm sure I can make a plan, I would say 6 cars on one weekend will make it worth it so let's see who else is keen?
