Hats of to the rattle fix kings!!

I just returned from Kgalagadi and experienced the worst ever corrigations of the last 5 years. Roads had almost ankle deep corrigations in some places (ok almost) but corriated all over and my dash was as quiet as the proverbial mouse. Thank you Kurt and MrG for a job well done (and Kurt for the installation)

I HIGHLY recommend this to all owners of Pajeros with dash rattle issues. I decided to do mine as a precaution (was not rattling) but am convinced it would not have survived without the "treatment"

    Thanks, much appreciated.

Tobie, that is absolutely awesome. Those Kgalagadi roads are pure evil so that's a great relief that it worked. Thank you for taking the time to give the feedback, much appreciated.

I think the fact that Tobie had his dash strengthened before any abusive movement could happen, is maybe the reason for the complete success of the implants.

I'm still in tears 'cos mine was not saveable (terrible word for a terrible tragedy). But not for a lack of effort from the John-Kurt corporation, John literally spent hours on my car.

I am based in Nairobi, Kenya. Unfortunately there are very few shops I can trust to remove the dash rattles/shakes. Anyone have a DIY video?

Unfortunately not, and its a long process so quite difficult to do. I could try write it down into a DIY manual sometime and send it to you for you to see if it is possible. Let me think about it.

I did some serious corrugated gravel on the west coast and here is my report back:

    1. Mitsu must have done something as the dashboard seems solid with almost no movement and almost no rattling.
    2. I do have a rattle where the dashboard meets the window, just right of center.
    3. The cubbyhole is crap. It looks like it will fall off at any moment.
    4. My pajero is a GLX, so no speaker on the dashboard. Perhaps the weight of the speaker has an influence?

You guys are welcome to dismantle my dashboard to see what Mitsu did, but I think you'll find they just copied your fix

We did a few 100km of gravel between Springbok and Hondeklip bay and the corrugations were bad enough to have the wipers and indicators come on every now and again. Tyres were at 1.8 bar. Tough dog suspension is definately superior to standard issue. I set the front shocks to 4/9 stiffness, which is relatively soft, but that is my standard setting for everything. In future, I may set it softer.

Mitsu's fix is no where near as good as ours, we've seen plenty and they are not good at all. You need the cable tie fix for the rattle at the windscreen.

I can confirm this! First had the mitsu fix done by mitsu - no use. The John & Kurt fix actually works.

I don't doubt it for a second. The fact that mine still rattles proves it.

Is there a link to this fix? Heading to Botswana in four weeks and would like to see what needs doing.

Hi Plod. Its not an easy DIY unfortunately, there's a lot of "surgery" involved and you need some specific tools to install the brackets. I see you are in Newcastle, is there any chance you might be in Gauteng before your trip? I need about 90min. Send me a pm with your number and we can discuss it.

I recommend that you have it done, it will be worth the trip to Gauteng.
