    Default Fortuner D4D fuel consumption

    Good day all

I am in my 3rd week of driving my Fortuner (3.0 D4D 4x2) and filled it up this morning to calculate a fuel consumption of 7.3km/L. From what I've learned, a consumption of mid 9km/L can be expected for urban driving on the 3L D4D.
Can anyone comment on realistic consumption I should expect and if this is too low, what can be done to better it?
Injectors were checked before I bought it to be 100%.
    Thanks for your input!

In town 7.3 could be correct. I averaged 8.5 to 9 including highway travel. This was with an auto 4x4 though.
    Regards,

    William

7.3km/l for mixed driving is about right. If it's highway miles only you may have an issue.

Have you checked alignment and pressures?

    Thanks William

Others I have spoken to got about 9.5 in town and 10.5-11 highway.
I must admit, my foot is still a bit heavy and getting used to the extra power, but I did still expect a bit better than this

7.3 is way too high - in 2 years mine never went near that and it was 4x4, I averaged 10 and everyone I knew with them got 9-10 constantly.........not an auto??

    FWIW : I get 9 - 9.5 km/l in town, and 10-ish open road. (3.0 4x4 D-4D)

(Only saw dirtshark's post after I saved mine - I concur, it is way too high.)

9.5km/L in town is a bit optimistic, I think.

I get an average of 7.4Km/lL in town, and 9.6Km/L open road.

    This is over 38 fillups

Yes.... it influences turbo motors... not so much the performance but definately the consumption.

when I got it, the computer was on 9.2 and now also on 7.3 after I cleared it on the previous fillup. can it be that a heavy foot can make such a big difference??

I get 9 - 9.5 in town, manual, 4x4 (awd). But then again, I don't dice and dragrace, the D4D is not in the 3.2 and milkbottle league.

7.3 is still to high even at altitude.

Why, and making it worse or better?

I would expect higher altitude = less oxygen, thus lower power etc
