Red face Highest milage on Freelander II

what is the highest milage on your Freelander II and what were the repairs done during that distance travelled.

My Freelander II 2011 SD4 has done 168000 without any repairs.

I am sure there are others with the same good record

    Permanently on holiday, then :-)?

My i6 is exactly there, but it took 4 years more than your car.

Being of prototype vintage, mine was used to iron out all the design issues so that you could achieve the "trouble-free" status.

Unless you mean that it has not left you by the side of the road?

Then mine also qualifies as trouble-free :-).

According to the guys at Land Rover Nelspruit, one of their clients with a FL2 has a shade over 400000 on, running mostly in Moz, with apparently only normal wear and tear items changed.

Guess I got the one that was built on a Friday afternoon.
    FL2 TD4
She's not left me by the side of the road but in the last year had to replace/repair the following:

Locks on rear passenger doors as they did not lock or unlock.
    Turbo pipe failed, replaced.
Tensioner pulley on the fan belt failed instantly and was replaced.
Driver side window mechanism failed, replaced.
The valve in the throttle body is stuck open, throttle body needs to be replaced. Booked at LandyWorx for next week.

Together with this some other small things such as the auto gear knob button failing and had to replace gear knob. Glove box damper broke as well.

All in the last 12 months. Really frustrating.

I hope after the throttle body this will be the last for a while.

    Hi Higgins,

I recall your original post reporting the lock conspiracy of almost Biblical proportions - the left lock knew what the right lock was doing. Have not read about that issue ever before on any forum.

What is the mileage? I assume it is out of warranty, otherwise you would not take it to Landyworx?

The only DIY item I see on your list is the gear lever spring replacement.

The throttle body issue is the one where the electronic throttle valve in the air intake is not closing when the car is switched off?

Friend of mine had the same, caused by the plastic gears between the actuator motor and valve stripping. Cost R3k to replace in 2013.

Fortunately for you, it is stuck in the open position, so you can still drive the car.

But I hope this is the end of your troubles.

Mileage approaching 140K so she's done her fair bit.
Extended warranty covered all the issues barring the gear knob. Replaced it myself yes. PS. Don't follow the workshop manual directions.

Throttle body replacement est close to R5k. Not sure yet how much warranty will cover.

The investment in the extended warranty has paid for itself already in just these last 12 months.

Swambo's FL2 has 170k on the clock. The only issue I'm aware of is a split turbo pipe which we replaced. Otherwise still running like a beast.

2010 2.2 HSE A/T done 168 000 kms. Only issues have been the split turbo pipe replaced on 154k and rear wheel bearings on the same mileage. These where done just before I bought it by the dealership, I think it was uneven tyre noise not the bearings as it was still noisy till I put new tyres.

Hmm, this turbo pipe splitting seems a common problem.

Mines a 2009 but only on 88k km, replaced the throttle body and aircon compressor last year.

I believe that is why LR issued a TSB to have it replaced whilst still under warranty.

I had mine done, although it didn't split.

So far only issue on mine was steering rack replaced. Currently on 107k km. Common issue apparently. (this is the only thing i can remember that was an inherent fault, not something that i did.. )

My 2007 Freelander 2 had the rear struts replaced under the extended warranty then at 22000km the slave cylinder went as the slave cylinder is inside the bell-housing decided to replace clutch plate pressure plate at the same time due to the mileage and abuse it took a bit of a hammering off-road most of the time having to stay with Sarge's D3 due to being a manual sold it on 231000km still going strong...AWESOME vehicle..

Been riding a pre-owned 2010 FL2 TD4 since last Dec (with 110k on the clock).

Now approaching 140k. No major issues. Hollard's extended warranty in place.

Oh, and the left rear wheel bearing which went quite suddenly.

Throttlebody also seems to be a fairly common problem.

Still, no other softroader I've driven comes close to the ride quality of my FL2.
I still say the FL2 can't really be placed as a softroader. Rather in-between softroader and full fledged 4x4.
