    Default Donkeys

Does Kenya have a lot of donkeys?

I know Botswana and Lesotho is full of them.

    Hallo bvandyk,
I did not see any donkeys in July, but it depends on which area in Kenya. Be careful for cattle especially in the mornings when they go to graze and afternoons when they go for water and go back to the kraals.
    Greetings

I think donkeys are considered a source of protein in Kenya.

    What are you talking about

I was planning on driving to Nairobi / Karen area, and just wanted to avoid Donkeys in the road.

Haven't seen one donkey, the 'donkey carts' are pulled along the middle of the road by guys-they seem to have right of way as the traffic swerves past them using the shoulder of the road.
Apparently the guys eat less than donkeys.

I've seen plenty of goats alongside the main roads,my dogs hate them.
So Ben, you should be OK....

+1, donkeys can be found but I have never seen many of them roaming around.

Depends on the area - most of the country you have to really be on the lookout for goats, cattle and chickens. Samburuland and parts of Maasailand there are plenty of donkeys. Lamu the only traffic is donkeys (there is a donkey sanctuary on the island, but you won't be driving there so don't worry). Never, ever drive at night in Kenya - it is suicidal.
