    Default Tanzanian Park Fees payment

    Hi,

We will be visiting several national parks in Tanzania and also Selous and Ngorogoro. I have heard that one cannot pay at the entrance for the national parks. If this is true how does one go about paying the fees?

What is the position on Selous and Ngorogoro?

Any help on either of the abovewould be most appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Ruwenzori

If you go on to Stan Weakley's blog at www.slowdonkey.com he gives all the information you seek. They came through Tanzania in June 2015 and visited the Ruaha, Selous, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The Selous is a game reserve and not a national park, and the Ngorongoro is a conservation area and there are different systems for those two places.

For national parks, you definitely can pay at the entrance gate, but maybe not always with a credit card for the remote gates and parks. The Ngorongoro involves pre-payment at a designated bank - Stan has all the details on his blog.

    Hi,
Just came back from there and paid with cards mostly. They prefer it due theft of the cash. Tried the Tanapa card system but some parks in certain area's only accept cards issued by certain banks so I would say cards (Visa and Master cards) or cash is good
