Question Land Rover Game Viewer restoration

    Good day,

I found a (I think it is a series 3) retired game viewer that I would like for me and my two boys to strip and restore to nice condition. I am notinterested in making it original again as it will be too costly. The plan is to keep them busy and to plant the seeds of loving 4x4.

Any help is needed as I don not know a lot about Landy's. It does have the straigh 6 petrol engine, but with a carburettor that messes around. This will be my first hurdle.

Whete can I buy spares / new carburettor for this engine?

First, you will need to ID the actual model of the engine, then consult the collective knowledge bank on here for manuals/available spares/tips etc.
You may well have a total mongrel with non-original parts, hence starting with where you are before moving to where you would like to be.

Good luck, I am envious of not having the time or space to do something like that.

The straight 6 was offered in two versions.

Both of them are a pig to find spares for these days.
They also never get better than around 5km/L.

My advice is sell the Rover 6 and use the money for a nice cheap Nissan RD28 straight 6 normally aspirated diesel engine.

This was a very common conversion on the Series 3 and makes the vehicle affordable to drive.
