    Default 1966 beetle project

Collected my 1966 VW Beetle 1300 today. One owner since new, 73000 miles on the clock. Never been done up or been in a accident. Totally original with small rust spot at the back window. This car has been in storage since 1999. My plan is to fit 5 new tires, do up the brake system, flush and service motor, give it a good clean and polish, replace one or two rubbers that are really bad. Further it has to stay original.

Very nice indeed! Does it still have the water bottle in the middle of the spare wheel, the reservoir for the windscreen washers? If not, I have one that you can have. I think I also still have the workshop manual for this Beetle, you can have that too.

    Awesome project

Once rebuilt a 57 Beetle; oval window with the pop-out indicators and helped a friend with his split-window build.

Know the feeling all too well.

    I am green

    Enjoy

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Heinrich, yes it still has all the parts, water bottle ect, even has the louver blinds on the inside of the back window. Please send me your details and banking info, I would like to buy the manual from you and pay for the postage.

    Chris, clean it Why

Jono. the Lux Bug is very sought after and very scarce. That was a limited build for some aniversary special.

JeMoi, I had a 1958 Split Screen as a youngster. The Brazillian camper and sold it in 1979 for R95.00. Could not afford to have the brakes done up. I'm still suicidal about that decision today

I'll keep on posting the progress, but that will only start in a month or two.
