    Default Caracal Eco Route

    Hi all.
I`ll be doing the Caracal eco route starting 3 September 2012--Is there any info or hazzards to look out for, and what is the difficulty level?
    I have a Ssangyong Kyron 2ltr diesel 4x4 t-tronic (moet nie lag nie !!!)
Where to stay ,and do I need to take extra diesel?

    Cheers
    Mark

I recently went through there towing a off-road caravan without any problems whatsoever.

Try and stay as close to the coast as possible by taking every turnoff towards the sea you get. That way, you will at least encounter some sand. Otherwise you can stick to the dirt road, which you will be able to drive in a Avis Golf. Mind you, a Avis Golf can go anywhere.
Mitsubishi Triton 3.2 Di-D 4x4 Auto with a Bush Lapa Miskruier (#30) following closely behind.
In the process of going there and doing that.

    Default Caracal Eco Route

Yep, the route is on the West Coast --by the way I think a Kia Picanto from Europe Car is the best 4x4 !!!

If you want to overnight in Kleinzee you will require a permit. To simply drive through you and your passengers only need your ID's.

We traveled from North to South and all of the roads to the beach in the Kleinzee area is locked with no access signs. If you want to travel close to the beach here you'll have to book with Diamond Tours and it's a guided 3 or 4 day tour.

The real adventure starts just south of Hondeklipbaai when you enter the coastal section of the national park.

If you want to do the tour you must get a proper 4X4 and the most important thing is: let SWAMBO do the driving!

One thing is for sure, if you want to do this route you do not want to tow a heavy trailer with no back-up to get you out should you get stuck.

You have top be totally self-sufficient insofar as food, water, wood, etc...

Die blomme was in volle blom so ver as wat jy kon sien.

We did the Caracal Eco Route in September 2014. Awesome, except for missing the first turn-off. This only happened because we could not agree on whether to turn left on go straight.

PS - We had an off road caravan on tow. No problems
