    I read somewhere on the internet that some guys managed to find the ABS/TC? cable (colored black and blue) connected to the ECU which is located after the gear shift area below the Radio. Intercepted the cable with an on/off switch which they claim that in the off position all three (ASC, TC and ABS) will be disabled. For the reenabling process, one has to turn the engine off, turn the new switch on, and then turn the engine back on, where the system is rescanned and should enable all three again.
    I haven't tried this on my NS, so I can't confirm the above.

    Why would you need to switch these features off?

    There is a (false?)perception out there that TC holds you back.

    I have been up dunes, up axle twisting mountains, tested it under "racing" conditions and have never experienced TC holding me back - quite the opposite.

    ASC will most definitely hold you back up a steep dune.

    I'm just sharing what I know about pajero TC disabling, since this option is for some reason available in other 4x4s, and not in gen 4 pajero as RoelfleRoux mentioned earlier.

    I guess one would want to switch traction control off in case it does interfere with engine power when momentum is needed.

    I think Kurt's question could have been tongue in cheek. Almost like asking why carry a toolbox in a Pajero.

    My Sport is a GLS but that also means in the case of the Sport it has Rear DL not TC. I engage RDL...aim....and shoot! I just love it!

    Hi Roelf, you are partly right. I asked because I have never in any circumstances be they onroad, offroad on a trail, in sand dunes etc. needed to change any of the standard settings. When in High Range (4HLc), you can switch off ASC with a button on the dash, and TC is not normally required because your speed is high enough (momentum) but can become useful. In Low Range (4LLc), ASC is switched off anyway and the TC is useful for grip. In addition, when in Low Range and you are using the TC too much the car will eventually spin through it and allow you to kick dust in the air to your heart's content....

    Well I just had to post a comment here. I have had my Gen 4 NS SWB for about 3 years now and was not happy with the TC and preferred the DL as fitted to my previous models. This weekend at Drie Berge I had the opportunity (and possibly the right mindset) to put the TC system to a fair test.

    Well by driving it correctly I found it quite impressive. If I come across a DL for my vehicle I would grab it but at least I am not as negative about TC as I was originally.
