Hey guys. I need some advice, pointers, comments etc on the following:

Looking to buy a 2010 jeep rubicon 4 dr with full service history, one owner, accident free and
well maintained (so i am told). One problem........ the vehicle has 230 000km on the clock

    Please fire away!

    Price negotiable asking R215k

those 3.8s are pretty bullet proof, as is the rest of the vehicle.

    good price?

well, at that mileage you can expect the same issues you'd expect on any car,

there are no real issues with the motors that I know of. Power steering pumps are a bit weak but if it's on stock tyres, probably okay.

suspension bushes do wear - the more offroad and the more lift it's got the worse it will be.

    gearboxes are hugely strong.

they are a bit heavy on juice.

diffs and transfer cases are very over specced as well. hard to hurt them with a stock 3.8.

Propshafts need fixing from time to time - like any car.

brakes and so on can be a few beans.

it's going to have some costs, it's not new. probably best to give it a huge service and change all the oils and attend to any problems now.

I wouldn't say R200k is wonderful for the mileage - there are 3.8 Unlimiteds for R140 000 on auto trader with far lower mileage (2007) and this one is a 2010 with 61 000km at R240k

I wouldnt look for a JK and decide on what to buy because of the year model, id look for lower millage if I were you.
I got my 2008 with 70 000km's on the clock at the beginning of this year.

The choice with JK Rubicons are as follows.
    - 3.8L or 3.6L (2007 - 2011) or (2012 - 2015)
    - Manual or Auto
    - 2dr or 4 dr
    - Millage
    - Colour

230K is high millage, the JK might be ok with it on, but it doesnt look good and things are about to start needing more expensive maintenance.

Shop around as mentioned, the 3.8 isn't very popular now after the 3.6 Pentastar was launched.
