New Foton Toano van and Sauvana SUV

Hi everybody.

Some “brand new” images from the new Foton van, the Toano, and also their first SUV that maybe you have already seen.

The beautiful Toano was developed with Mercedes. The SUV was presented as Sauvana at Shanghai auto show last May, but have been presented as Toplander at Bogota auto show last November. Not bad, but I find more beautiful those black specimens. Which one of those two do you prefer?

A similar name, Savanna, is used for the Tunland in Malaysia.

They lack a bit of imagination in Foton, don’t you agree?

They might lack imagination but certainly not strategy.

How do you build a reputation for reliability and quality relatively quickly as a car manufacturer? You hop on the back of giants like Toyota, Mercedes, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, etc.

Yes the new bus is based on the Sprinter and the SUV either on the Fortuner or Prado. Should make for pretty reliable and well manufactured vehicles.

Kia and Hyundia did the same until they reached a level where their own ground up designs are now centre stage. Took them about 25 years to achieve. The Chinese are expected to reach that in 15 years. That is besides what they have been manufacturing for these same international big wigs for decades. ( called outsourcing)

You're right. I also lacked of clarity. I wanted to say they lack of imagination about the names Sauvana, Savanna and even Toplander.
