My daughter and her love for horses

We stopped my daughter's riding lessons 3 months ago because of expenses, fees and petrol just becoming too much as it is 25km from our house. The horse that she rode was the love of her life. Now last night I saw her whatsapp status and it broke my heart
I wish I could get her on a horse more often but it is not a very affordable hobby.

Na nou meer as 13 jaar se dodge van rondloper perde op pad in nag, daaglikse gesukkel van perde in my boorde en groente, van perdeienaars wat my grensdrade knip en net perde injaag op my grond, en dan, enige tyd van dag of nag mense te perd op jou grond kry, elke keer met verskoning, ons kom haal net gou daai perde wat daar bo loop, maar eindlik kom scout vir wat hulle kan steel.

So, ek het alle liefde vir die goed verloor...
Maar, my huis het stalle en kampe, vir sowat 25 perde onder dak, en nou begin my oudste dogtertjie al meer en meer karring vir n perd...

Weet nie hoe ek gaan bly nee sê nie...

Baie dankie Jaco dit is n wonderlikke aanbod en ek gaan beslis by jou n draai kom maak. Ek werk in City Deep. Miskien een middag na werk gou kom hallo sê.

Ek het ook n dogter wat perd mal is - op die stadium ry sy my nuwe Discovery 4, maar dis elke sent werd.

Daar is n ongelooflike band tussen meisiekind en perd.

Ten minste maak ek nie n "mall brat " groot nie.

Ek was ook van kleins af perd mal. Was bevoorreg om deel van lewe met drie van hulle te deel. My gunsteling, die merrie wat my alles geleer het wat ek weet van ry, is die week 2 jaar gelede dood. Ek het haar vir 14 jaar gehad.

Om die perd te koop is nie duur nie. Daar is goeie perde vir appel en ui te koop omdat mense van hulle ontslae moet raak agv ekonomiese druk. Die maandelikse onderhoud, en behoede jou veeartskoste, is skrikwekkend.

Louw se aanbod is wonderlik, maar vind ook uit by stalle in jou omgewing vir perde om te half-stal. Dit is 'n algemene praktyk en die groot onkostes bly die eienaar se verantwoordelikheid maar jou dogter kry die geleentheid om 'n band met die perd te vorm.

Indeed, the costs are a big factor. That will start piling up if you cannot keep your horse in the open veld, but to stable it.

I sympathise, my daughter rides and that bond between rider and animal is special..

What I would suggest as you are in Roodepoort is that she tries volunteering for SARDA (riding for the disabled, Pierre Road, Ruimsig) as they are often looking for volunteers, or approaches the different yards to see if she can volunteer in return for riding lessons.
