    Default Bachelor Long Weekend Trail

I'm finally getting married in November and I want to plan a trail with the boys over the September long weekend.

Hoping that someone would have some advise for me. I'm looking for a 3-4 day trail within 300-500km of Gauteng which offers self-guided, wild camping (we'll be completely self sufficient).

We're not big drinkers, but as a group of 6-8 okes, may be a bit more noisy than usual. Also would prefer to not cross border but will if there isn't anything local.

    Some ideas were:

    * Josini, Nduma, Themba and Kosi Bay
    * Orange river trail (way to far for a weekend, but exactly the experience I would go for)
    * Go from trail to trail in Limpopo (Serendipity, Rust de winter ect).

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Jono

Maybe this link will assist. A bit dated, but most - if not all - of it still valid.

Mmmmmm, I'm not a big drinker (anymore) either.... BUT, on a bachelor's weekend, all bets are off!

Thing is, some okes are not regular users... they are irregular abusers.

And, provided you don't have a negative affect on anyone else, or on the environment, go for it. Just hide the keys as soon as the party starts. Don't hurt yourself!

I hope you get something... long weekends are usually fully booked well in advance.

There will be rules, but I get what you saying, bottom line is no driving while under the influence, we all big boys now.

The fact that you have to organize your own bachelors is a concern!

No other recommendations, Orange river would have been awesome.

Get nine garden chairs, set them up in your back yard in four rows of two, with an isle between them, and one in front. Get a day laborer to be the bus driver, invite your mates around and tell them you organized a bus to watch rugby in Durban or wherever.

Everyone boards the bus, give out a fine for not having a ticket, etc. then when they're all on, make sure they have enough booze for the trip, because you can't get off until you reach Durban! After 5 hours, the bus 'arrives', you all get off watch rugby on the tv, have a braai and a kuier, and then at 10, bundle, everyone back into the 'bus' for the 5 hour trip home!

I'm guessing this forum was the wrong place to ask a question about overlanding
