    Me neither.
So far I have found that 3 ships standard and Bains taste far too similar.
I'll try get my hands on the SM or the 5yr - hopefully they taste different.
Don't get me wrong - i like 3 ships and bains but i think they are too similar in taste.

I tried the GRANT’S SHERRY CASK FINISH WHISKY the other day, not bad for a R200 bottle of whisky...

Would also like to give the Grants Select Reserve a try one day. (About R300)...

YES! That is a good value buy. Sherry cask makes all the difference there IMO.
It used to be my go-to standard whisky but I'd forgotten about it - so tx for the reminder.

Best value under R200 then for me is Teachers and Grant's Sherry Cask Finish

Try Glen Grant Majors reserve - cheapest SM on the market.
That is probably my best under R300 whisky.

If I remember correctly the 5 and 3 year is different, but never had them together. Maybe i will have to buy a 3 and a bains to test :-)

I find it in most liquor stores - green label
Believe me - SJC is right - it's well worth it - especially for the price.

It was a favor, a big one. I have the 1L Duty Free units at home, so not too phased. Anyway, needed the Pulas to buy ribeye steaks to take home, so it was a win win.

I think you know me and you are taking the p!$$

Had Bains once. Came highly recommended. We were a few guys that like our whiskey, so thought we would give it a try. Each had a dram and vowed never again. Next night we tried to light a fire with what was left of the Bains. It was not even good enough for that. Vile, horrible stuff. Afterwards I was told there was am bad batch and we might have gotten a bottle from it. Not good enough reason for me to try it again

So does Carling Black Label. Seriously, some people like it, some don't. I'm the latter. And I'm not a snob. I drink cheaper whiskey than Bains, but what I had that night was unpalatable.

Eish. I reckon it was a bad batch. Yes, bains isn't everyones favourite.
