    Cool Landrover evoque

I am looking for more Info on the reliability of a secondhand evoque 2013 to 2014 models. What is the fuel economy like on both the 2l petrol and the 2.2 diesel.

And how capable is its off road capabilities.

I will mainly use it in town , but would like to take it on the sand dunes.

Whats the towing capacity like. Is it capable of launching a small boat with enough traction.

What is the fuel economy like on both the 2l petrol and the 2.2 diesel. Around 12L/100km in the petrol and around 8L/100km in the diesel.

And how capable is its off road capabilities. Better than expected, but it's quite limited by low clearance and tyre choices.

I will mainly use it in town , but would like to take it on the sand dunes. The standard 19 and 20" tyres allow very little deflation for sand. 17" Freelander 2 rims will fit but costs an arm and a leg.

Hi and welcome to the Forum

I put your questions to my friend who owns an Evoque since 2012, and in bold are his responses.

One of our consultants at the office has one as well and no issues what so ever.

Only thing she had to replace the windscreen about 3 times for some reason it cracks quite easily, well hers anyway.

Ive had my 2011 Prestige Petrol SI4 since new.
Con's: battery. Because there is so much demand on the electrical system, with the tailgate and the folding mirrors with every lock and unlock, it means the battery needs to be charged with a battery charger about once a year.
The Satnav is a bit annoying.
The fuel consumption is rather high. But having 177KW underfoot is always going to hurt at the pumps. Its just to tempting with that sort of power not to use it.
Its a bit low to the ground(esp the Dynamic model)
The standard tyres are Continentals which dont last.
(The last two points can be fixed with Cooper Zeons.
The available space could have been utilised better. No full size spare wheel.

Pro's: first the looks. Highest resale value of any car in the country. Great traction control system. Revs freely giving you a bigger smile as the rpm increases. Tackling mountain passes is as much fun as in a sportscar and then you can go offroading too.! The extensive use of leather and quality materials give rise to the best interior of any car ever, in my opinion.
    Good sound sytem.
Very reliable with no big problems that ive heard of (like the Freelander1 and Disco2 disasters)

I have the 2012 Diesel. Brilliant on gravel roads. Feels like it is on rails. Lots of fun in the dunes. No major problems with it.

The jury is still out, I've heard some people complain the 9 speed is forever changing gears, but I suppose the newer gearbox is a better overall choice.

"And how capable is its off road capabilities."

You can buy with confidence I am sure.

When it gets to that level of Land Rover, it is just about perfect in all areas imho.

My colleague has just bought himself a Vogue V8 supercharged. It has 22" low profiles.

Spent last week in real remote bush and what with the sophisticated suspension on the vehicle he did not even deflate the tyres.

Handled sand, corrugations what have you with ease.

His only complaint was scratches to the body and mags . The vehicle is huge. Also must have hurt on a 4-week old R1.9-mil vehicle.

Quite some time ago (when I was still a Capetonian), I was at the Killarney off-road track with some LR guys for a fun day.

Arrived a rep from CT Land Rover with a Evo and did ALL the obstacles to such an extent that most of the guys got out their cars and just stood and watched the rep putting the Evo through its paces.
It may have a tiny few shortcomings but hell!! its most definitely very much underrated.

Some moths later, the sales manager from Stellenbosch LR loaned me his company car Evo for 4 days while a diff was replaced on my Puma.

I still get shivers at the experience.
