Exclamation What Size 2nd Battery For Prado 150 TX/System

    First,
Thank you to Forum Members who collaborated on My Daughters Broken Gearbox on her Hilux. The Gearbox is now being rebuilt in Cape Town.

My Prado TX has a space in front of the Air Filter. I measure available dimensions as 320mm L x 220 H x 200 W, But the only reference I can find is to a FrontRunner Plate that holds a maximum of 80AMP.
EBay advertise a Plate for N70 ZZ Batt in Plate of 319mm x 180mm wide.
This equivalent to a 102 AH but can be AGM.

    What can Fit ?

Running cable to rear to link into Camper Trailer Batteries, What DC to DC charging system ?

DC/DC charger is not recommended if fitting in the engine bay, it gets too hot then the charger can't do its job properly. If you want to fit in the engine bay then rather go for a solanoid system or in my opinion anyway. Battery dimentions differ so you'll have to actually mesure and fit the biggest of whatever you can find, very very important that you fit a propper bracket though, like the Frontrunner you mentioned.

Hi - I have a 70 or 80 Ah fitted in mine. I will take a pic and post it. I seem to recall that a 102 would have been too big and would have rubbed against the aircon pipes - hence i was advised against it. Just check that out before you make a final decision. Mine is a simple system with a solenoid, one hella plug in the back and a Brad Harrison on the rear where my caravan plugs into.

Doubt you will fit in bigger than a 80 AH.

Mine's a deep cycle with dimensions 255 L x 170 W x 180 H (200 including the plate from Frontrunner). These measurements can be off by a mm or 2. There are a lot of wires going over the battery, and I did not want to fiddle or touch Not sure of the make, probably Deltec. It is bright yellow on top.

I do have a C-tek 250 Dual, quite happily doing its job for the past 3 years. What the C-tek did not like was talking to the HcDP panel in the caravan, though. We just don't plug the caravan into the vehicle anymore. No hassle for us, because the fridge is in the car being fed from the C-tek and deep cycle battery. We rarely use the battery in the caravan.

I have a 70AH Lead Crystal and a Ctek D250S in the engine bay now for two years without any issues.
