    Default Discovery 2002 ED5 ES

Could I get some advice please.
I am in the market for a Disco II
    * Must be Diesel and Automatic.
I am looking at one advertised on Gumtree for R 55000-00 with the following specs.
    - TD5 Automatic
    - 300000 kms with complete engine rebuilt: Yes, completely redone including injectors and turbo. A chip was also installed that contributes significantly to the power output. The job was done by a Land Rover specialist in Wellington about 10,000 kilometers. The engine is running a little rich at the moment and I suspect that the chip needs setting / programming to compensate for altitude.
    - Optional Extras:
*** Long range tank (included with vehicle),
    *** winch (R3,000),
    *** compressor (R500),
    *** drawer system (R2,000),
    *** roof rack R1,750)
    Thanks gawie

I don't know. I am pretty anal on knowing the background of a vehicle, for me it is not necessarily a positive thing if someone else has rebuilt the engine. In my eyes, it is more of an advantage to do it yourself or do it under your oversight. Are all the bills available for all the parts? Are you personally acquainted with the shop that did the work?
I get little alarm bells when someone says they have spent all that money and then there is still a problem with the engine - running rich, you say. You also don't mention what year it is, is it a facelift? There are plenty of D2s out there, just be very careful and get it checked out by Landyworx or someone reputable. Just my opinion.

Mmmmmm - needs setting to compensate for altitude ?!?!?!? Sounds like a tall story because the ECU does that automatically - someone is spinning you a yarn !

2002 also did not have CDL, and can't fit either. Kudos on the running rich story, ecu controlled Remove chip!!!
