Well, they are so close to each other and in each case you can make each of your famiy members happy. It is really the same "area".
So, try Plett, Herolds Bay, Vic Bay, Buffelsbaai, Wilderness ,etc. and enjoy paradise!!

I would go to Knysna, remember George is inland, closest beach Victoria Bay.

Knysna more old world, nicer shops, but not cheap. Much more to do and to see

When do you plan to go there?

Does it have to be one of those? Otherwise, if you intent to go out of season (depending on how busy you prefer it or not) Hartenbos should also be an option according to me. You are right there by the beaches if that is your first priority and you have nice beaches close by like the quiet and windstill tidalpool beach in Kleinbrak as well.

The kids will love Knysna, the wife will enjoy all the shopping there.

Knysna for tourists and George for business.
George is more central if you want to explore the district.
Best holiday hotels are also in Knysna and the best beach for kids is Buffelsbaai (20 min drive).
Lots of touristy activities for the kids around Plettl, only short drive (depending on some road works) from Knysna.
For only four days you can stay anywhere along the coast from Mosselbaai to Keurbooms and find enough to see and do.

What Stan said. Once you are at East London the N2 is great, but still a long drive.

There are two weekly flights DBN-GRJ, although pricey.

Knysna does not have child-friendly beaches, George has no beaches at all . . . .

Our choice has always been Wilderness, seemed just that more child-friendly, particularly on the lagoon. If the weather is bad there, just nip over to Oudtshoorn with lots of child stuff: caves, ostriches, game "parks". Wilderness makes Mossel Bay to Plett accessible as well.

Knysna is a very busy place. Too busy for me personally .... Swambo enjoys the shops though. Also worth taking a trip on the John Ben to the heads. Eat something on the boat and enjoy the sights.

I prefer everything in between Knysna and George though.

Wilderness is beautifull. We usually camp in Wilderness at the Ebb and Flow park or Keurbooms Lagoon.

Some really nice gravel roads and passes in the area to explore.

Agree! We like Ebb & Flow and Wilderness is very nice. Close to George and in a world of its own.
