I have done some canopy research and have narrowed it down to either an RSI or Metalian canopy for my DC Amarok.

I have found threads where these canopies are discussed, but I would like to put them head to head in terms of:

    • Fit and finish on the vehicle
    • No. of holes that needs to be drilled into the vehicle
    • Water and dust sealing
    • Construction strength and load carrying capability
    • longlivity and robustness
    • Can the tailgate be opened with the canopy back door closed?

For me its a tie in the looks area - if the Metalian is the same height as the cab - in some photos it seems higher.

I like that the RSI is made from stainless steel and I like the triple seal of the Metalian.

Who has these canopies fitted and what are your honest opinions?

I would love to be able to see these canopies on a Amarok - anybody in the PE area have either fitted to an Amarok?

IMHO these are the top 2 canopies in SA at the moment and therefore both are excellent.

RSI is slightly more expensive, but that is offset (for me) by the fact that a table in the roof is included. So without accessories fixed front and rear windows and 3 large doors they are pretty much the same price.

Its a difficult decision and therefore I need your input please!
    In my opinion the RSI:

Fit and Finish - RSI is the better looking canopy. Finish is more "perfect". Colour matches perfectly. I also like the look of the aluminium roof rails.
Holes - No holes drilled to fit RSI, fits into tie down hook holes.
Sealing - Cannot comment in full, need to fit a dust kit then I can comment, but so far so good.
Strength - Can carry around 350kg on its roof.
Longevity - Build quality seems like it is going to last for a very very long time.
Tailgate - I would say no, as you will have to force it to open due to it's sealing characteristics.

The Metalian is slightly higher than the RSI.

If you want the best looking canopy, get the RSI (in my opinion). if you want to customize, get the Metalian.

    Default Enter the RLD Design...

At the very last moment the VERY competitively priced RLD canopy came under my attention after seeing an add in a magazine of this stainless steel canopy. Riaan Ludik is new on the forum. Now it was not only the RSI that's stainless.

I have however still decided on the RSI. For me this is how they rank:

    1. RSI - stainless and rests on the floor of the bak
    2. RLD - stainless and rests on the sides of the bak (option on Amarok and Ranger to rest on floor)
    3. Metalian - alu but seals very well

All 3 gave me service and advice second to none!

You cant make a mistake with any of them.

    Good feedback.

Do you plan to carry a load on the roof?

I was looking at an rsi on a toyota landcruiser in Umdloti today. Painted the same colour as the vehicle. Beautifully made but it looked as if the welds were rusting. But you did have to look hard.

I order mine last week Thursday and have to wait 14 working days for arrival and I have done some research on others and I must say the rsi canopy came above all others in looks and durability and the fact that you get it in the colour match of the vehicle where others don't i'll recommend the RSI if you are wiiling to spend that kind of money for quality

Het iemand dalk dieselfde probleem as ek?

If I were to sell my Metalian DC canopy on my Volla to change for an RSI, how much do you think I can realistically ask for it? Just pondering if the loss wont be too much.

Bought it for R25k two years back
