    Default Eurospeed Maps & Intercoolers

Eurospeed – A Company of their Word
During December I took my Disco to Eurospeed to have her remapped. Shortly thereafter my turbo went. This was left for my account even though the turbo had only been installed a few weeks previously.

Elton of Eurospeed jumped in and assisted getting the turbo repaired, even though it should have been a warranty claim.

During this time Eurospeed had a special on intercoolers for the LandRover Disco 3 and offered the special to me. I indicated that this would only enter my budget during 2015. Eurospeed then decided to sponsor me the intercooler and fitment. WOW.

I had some other issues to take care of and last week my Disco was ready for the intercooler. Eurospeed immediately honoured their word and booked my Disco in for an intercooler fitment.

I have an aftermarket bumper which interferes with the fitment of the intercooler. No worry, Eurospeed takes ownership of the fitment, their welder has some work to do. Basically the winch mount part of the bumper mount needs to move forward ±35mm. This is being done at no charge.

Once he is finished and the bumper is re-fitted Elton will take some readings from the Disco to see how the air-flow works with the bumper and work those into his map, which has to be redone due to the added intercooler.

Eurospeed does not do a standard map but each vehicle gets a map specifically written for it using data they first extract from the ECU. This way the map is suited to what the owner wants and the general state of the vehicle.
The also guarantee the map for the life of the VIN # so if for any reason the map is damaged, lost, overwritten he will re-map at no cost to the owner. I.e. if your ECU gets wet and is replaced, Eurospeed will remap it for you at no charge. If a vehicle sensor gets damaged and needs to be replaced it is possible that the map will not read the new sensor correctly, in an instance like that Eurospeed will remap at no charge.

If you are unhappy with the map Eurospeed will adjust it to suit your requirements at no charge.

Here is a Company that stands behind their product.

My experience with the products to date.
Remap – This really made my Disco more driveable. Much less turbo lag and some real acceleration. The map was great but being a petrol-head driving a Diesel I just felt there was still something missing.
Turbo – TurboChip did the repair and recon on the turbo. Price was acceptable and the work done in the time promised. Turbo was recalibrated correctly and the compressor wheels balanced. The whole system was then tested for compression, air and oil flow. Everything passed perfectly.
Intercooler – This was what was missing in the map. WOW after fitting and testing, I took my Disco for a drive. WOW. Absolutely incredible. She FLIES without even being asked. We tested the intake air temps and they averaged 2 - 3° above ambient meaning that the motor is getting really cool dense air = effective combustion = well generated power. This is before the map is redone to accommodate the better air so I expect even more gains after the map is upgraded.

Next week is the 4x4 Dyno Day 2015 and Gasman has challenged me:
“Torqtune map and Intercooler” vs “Eurospeed Map & Intercooler” really looking forward to this challenge as I believe the Eurospeed setup will trounce the Torqtune setup. If I was a gambling man, I’d put some money on it…

Eurospeed do not only work on LandRovers but on most vehicles since the early 2000’s. They currently have 42 vehicle brands and 8 commercial brands on their books. Chances are your vehicle is listed. Check their website:

What happened to the turbo? was it not a new unit? Surely if it was a manufacturer's fault you could just get it replaced?

Oh, and the challenge is on!!

I made a decision not to disclose details of my Turbo woes at this stage. This might change.
My personality is who I am.
My attitude varies depending of treatment I receive...

Once I've trounced you on the Dyno I would like a 3Km run as well, this would test the vehicles in a real performance scenario. Just don't like speeding on public roads. Maybe we need the tuners to set up a day at Gerotek Testing Facility. There they have all the equipment to truly test vehicles.

That is a large section of the radiator which gets covered with the IC. Do you monitor coolant temps?

Yes Dawid the IC is massive. There is space left between the IC and the aircon radiator that you can see, AFAIK there is also space between the aircon radiator and the coolant radiator - these gaps ensure that the radiators do not overly affect each other.

Once the bumper is fitted I will then monitor coolant temps under different scenarios. The bumper will obviously affect airflow and that is why I plan to do it then.

Of course we do, not on our site yet as we are in the process of upgrading to a newer site! We have larger turbos for both 3.2 and 2.2 we also have our own intercooler upgrade, the best you can buy period!!

On 3.2 generally we acchieve 180kw and 590nm
With bigger turbo and IC over 200kw

    On 2.2 we acchieve 135kw and 450nm
With larger turbo and IC 152kw 528nm

    I do around 4 to 6 T6 software upgrades a week!
Im currently busy with a T6 3.2 for a customer in Trinidad, he
Will also be fitting our upgraded IC!

Will be going to pretoria totay to upgrade a brand new T6 3.2

Let me know should you require any further info!

The cooler your inlet air temps the cooler your EGT, the cooler your EGT the cooler your water temps...the radiator will still operate as normal as our intercooler still allows air to effectively flow through it.

Thanks was just asking since I read another thread a short while ago where guys measured a slight increase in coolant temps on Defenders after a larger intercooler was fitted. Maybe some models/makes of IC's have different results.
