Do a search of 2.5 tci problems before you decide. Actually, do a search of GWM dealer service as well. Then decide.

The Steed 3 or 2.8tci shape looks really crap the steed 5 looks much better. I would avoid the 2.5tci engine though, Maybe try get the 2.0 engine or any petrol engine in the steed 5 shape and you will be fine.

As Shell said, do research first! We both have or have had a 2.5tci.

    good morning.

    Thanks for all the info.
I have decided on the steed 5 2.8 tci
she drives like a dream and feals like she just wants to give more.

just one question the 2.8 is it supposed to crank heavy before she starts or could this be battery related?

    greatings

Hope you are happy with your choice.
I had the same choice to make and went the 2.5 route.
So far i am happy light on fuel and no problems.
In my line of work i have seen that any mechanical equipment have their duds in production.
So its just your bad luck to get the dud !

Shame sorry man hope i never feel the same way about something i bought out of my own free will. Wait until your GWM has a major breakdown, and you are left stranded for 2 months without a vehicle, with no loan vehicle. That is then no longer free will.
Anyway to each his own i have yet to meet a single gwm driver that talk bad of his bakkie and i make a point of asking every one i see! I try to be nice about it, but I warn people now, instead of promoting the brand like I used to. Because of my experience, I had to swallow a major financial loss, twice, first when the engine blew, and I had to buy another car to do my job, and second when I was forced to trade it in after the engine started making noises 8000km after being replaced. Got next to nothing for it, and had to seriously downgrade in specs, but at least I have a reliable german brand now, that doesn't eat brake pads, doesn't blow turbo pipes, doesn't overheat when towing, has decent backup and clued up technicians, has a policy of a loan vehicle for repairs in excess of 7 days, has parts available in the country, and if not, will fly them in within a day or 2, etc. etc.

Yes we know the stories by now that is your opinion in regard to your experience !
Thats how you feel so that doesnt mean everybody will have the same problems.
I for one have seen how all makes of vehicles have their problems and its a learning curve that every brand went through.
I for one will not be influenced by your bad experience no matter how hard you bash the brand.
I say again i have yet to meet a gwm driver at a one stop or anywhere that had all the sad stories you are telling.
So you may think that you are helping other people but you know what 90 % of people driving gwm doesnt even know the 4x4 forum or do any research before buying a car.
Drive what you feel is a good brand and leave us poor plebs in piece that want to drive this scrap please!

Mapoepaan you have to forgive shell for hating the brand and I do feel his pain sometimes

There were a few 2.5's that blew the engine and they all belonged to forum members

There will always be problems with any car brand and there will always be sour owners that lost money in the process

    And you always get trolls

Now we got 2 of them

Fair enough so take your shots and move on then .
To say that all 2.5 are crap simple isnt true so i feel somebody has to point that out .
I feel sorry for the guys that got screwed but it happens with all brands .
I for one have seen at least 6 VW 2.0 l tdi motors give up in under 300 hrs of run time so does that make the VW also that bad ?
All i say is be a little bit fair and come with a concrete percentage of blown up 2.5 motors and then say its crap .
