Who can help me? EGR Blank

Hi Guys,

I recently got a 2009 Gen4 3.2 LWB, i had a 2005 3.2 LWb.
I don't know of it is my imagination but the 2009 feel down on power.
I also noticed a whistle sound between 1500 and 2000 rpm when cold, when normal operating temperature reaches the whistle goes away.

I was thinking if anybody knows of a mechanic that will be able to blank the EGR and clean my intake?

In PTA or Centurion area

Cant one of the exhaust places help you, like noise boys.

I was given a plate for my 3.2 triton took me about 20min to fit (and I'm not the greatest mechanic)

Kevchetty, don't you need to take the whole intake off to clean it etc?

I haven't don't the intake as yet, I just cleaned from the exhaust cooler to the egr valve. I would recommend that you clean the intake, but I will be doing that at the next service

That's my problem, I would rather pay someone to to take the intake off...

I'm too scared that I drop something or break something.

Take the whole EGR unit off yourself, very easy, oil catch pan and all. When u remove the unit u will find a small gasket between the intake and the EGR valve and also the same size gasket at the exhaust side. Trace this gasket's outline with a pencil on a piece of 4mm mild steel plate. Cut out with a grinder. Drill holes for the studs. Install. Done. Should take no more that 2-3 hours at most. The small vacuum pipe that connects to the EGR valve u can just bend and cable tie or blank off any way you wish. Did this to my 2006 and no warnings or problems at all. Mine did not have so much gunk inside, so I did not clean. You will have to decide for yourself if cleaning is necessary.

If u look inside the intake and it looks like attached, do it. Otherwise make the call on the amount of buildup and decide for yourself. If it is 1mm to 2mm thick I would wait.

I also have the whistle sound 08 Pajero when cold, had it from day one that I bought the Pajero with 70 000 km on the clock,

Any info about the whistle sound,

EGR is blank off but I didnt clean the intake.

You only have to blank of on top and with 3mm steel plate.

I bought mine on 138k km, so am not sure how long it has been there the whistle

Gerhard, om die intake skoon te maak is my voorstel vat jou kar vir Henk van Pajero Maintenance Services. Hy ken sy storie en het n goeie reputasie hier op die forum. Hy is in pretoria.

Doen die EGR blank op n ander plek. Noise boys of so iets.
