I travel through Nairobi to Mombassa often, if I'm ever there overnight once you're settled in, I'll give you a shout.

The Rough Guide to Kenya is an excellent guide book, worth buying.
Ask local advice before deciding on which area to stay in - there are some high crime suburbs. Karen/Langata/Ngong Forest area has nice big properties with great birding and some wildlife. An easy weekend outing is to head out on the Magadi Road, then down the Ngong Hills escarpment into the Rift Valley to Lake Magadi - carry on past Lake Magadi to the Maasai owned Shompole Group Ranch - you pay an entrance fee and then can bush camp on the Ewaso Ngiro River, or head up into the Nguruman Escarpment foothills - some lovely forest and the river there is crystal clear, nice swimming, no crocs.

Thanks, found a house in Karen, the back garden is directly onto Ngong Forest, believe there are horse trails and a decent fishing dam
Luckily we have friends and contacts in Nairobi, but the best they have between them is a Chev Trailblazer.

Met up with the head honcho of the East African Rally, which starts in May 2015.
He's invited me along to take some pics

Lovely place(Kenya),always wanted to live there...
Driving up on the 2nd April
Gonna take a few weeks to get there which we will start taking our time from Lake Malawi,NW side.
A few forum members are joining me,but they are coming back.

Any advice would really be appreciated.

All the best, enjoy, 3 years goes by in a flash. I am on my second 3 year assignment, first Germany now UK, already planning the next one but something less civilised might be nice.
Two best things for me are the closeness it generates in the family and the opportunity to experiance different cultures.

Just when the roads in Three Rivers are best suited for your Disco, you decide to leave. No guarantee that we can keep them like that till you get back.
