    Default Malawi floods 2015

Seems we all left in the nick of time.

Mwanza through Tete to Nyamapanda in Zim also threatened by floods. We saw a lot of rivers in flood. I don't think it stopped raining since we left there, around the 5th of Jan.

I crossed here on the way to Mwanza..

Default Zomba Plateau, Cape Maclear Flood status

We're due to be in Malawi from the 22 Feb: Lilongwe -> Blantyre, Blantyre -> Zomba Plateau, the Zomba->Cape Maclear +- 25th. Calls to the various lodges (Ku Chawe Inn & campground, and Chembe Eagles Nest, Cape Maclear, suggested that the roads we needed were fine.

So this post is both info to anyone else wondering about which bits of Malawi are still navigable but also an invitation to disagree and set me straight if anyone knows better!

Floods happened almost four months ago, should be fine; rainy season tapering down. Phone the lodges around the lake to double check. Try Sunbird Kuchawe hotel in Zomba and Sunbird Livingstonia for regional updates. Phone Majete wildlife reserve to get information on the lower Shire valley.
