Default Knives and other sharp things

Hey all , I am a Knife maker by trade and love all sharp things .
I would love to see what my fellow knife enthusiasts carry into nature and what they do with them once there , be it making camp or fine sculpture or just cutting some biltong .
Being I knife maker I probably work my knives harder than most as I am not scared to test them till they break ( just to see what my knives really are capable of )
Here are some of the sharpies I have made for clients !

what do you charge to make a Khukuri knife to carry in a vehicle to chop sticks etc if that is the right spelling. Far better than an axe.

OwenD I use quite a few different steels , the steel is chosen for the use of the knife that I am making and what that knife needs to do ! From bohler I use N690 , M390 , S390 and S690 as well as the odd bit of silver steel ,
From Damesteel I use Bjorkman's twist Dama Steel and RWL34
I also use 1075 , 1090 , 1095 , 5160 and 52100 ( mostly salvaged ) and I have used the odd bit of Panzer36 , D5 and D2/K110 and when I can get a hold of it bohler Elmax ! I have also tried some other tool steels and will use them again for specialist applications .

Hunter , I do not normally advise the classic kukri for heavy bush work as the curve in the blade is ( in my mind a bit heavy ) and the handle does tend to hurt your hand quite badly with heavy sustained use . but I do make a bush knife that works very well for hard work , you are looking at between R4500 and R10000 depending on size , fittings and embellishments but for a decent size with no fancies , just a knife that will work very hard and comfortably you are probably liking at about R5500 , then you can use it as an axe , spade , hammer and general camp knife with fantastic edge keeping capabilities !

I would love to see this, I'm a big Kukri fan, but the traditional Kukri was made for people with small hands! (And big hearts)

Here you go , This one I made for a client . It has a few scratches on the blade as he used it as a spade to dig his 4x4 out the mud in Bots , he tells me it is also use regularly to shop fire wood and clear roads that had been blocked by fallen trees and so on .
The blade is just shy of 30cm long and the spine is 8mm thick with a .8mm cutting edge sharpened to and apple seed profile ( very strong cutting edge )

Very nice knife, I personally also own three Mojo knives. They are well made and durable. Eddi makes really good quality products.
