Wow that has been an expensive toy its like 18k in almost 7 years! similar km done over the time to my Pajero , but my cost was just 2 oil and filters changes and one battery , I know you like to fiddle and fix things and one is wiser for that but as you hardly use it and spending a lot of money on it ?

    So what's the question?

No, it does not make sense, financially or time etc.

    Saying that,

I have learnt a lot about vehicles over the years.

Wow, I'm surprised that you put such a small amount on the odometer. Either Max was broken more often than not, or you live VERY close to the beach, work and the shops.

I think on average I have used one tank of fuel per month according to fuel.

A tank is anywhere between 300 to 500 kms.

Probably a bit less considering Max has been sitting at workshops for about 1 year of the last 3 years.

I live 10 kms away from the beach.

I drive another vehicle for work so I don't need to use Max daily.

There is no question but your answer is perfect no one learns anything by not trying themselves , skills to fix problems is worth a lot more than you have spent , I had done similar in my life unfortunately now I always look at the cost of medical repairs in fixing mechanical problems and most time the medical wins , and unfortunately will get worse with time , I am lucky to have a wonderful gardener that wants to learn things , He can weld , do wiring for boards , service my car (simple stuff for now) but what a great young man he just wants to do more , I hope he gets a good life with all his effort , we share him in the family working for me one day , Uncle 4 days and Cousin 1 day a week

I went for a drive yesterday at Buffelsfontein 4x4

    Nothing broke

The first picture is in front of the obstacle where I broke my front drive shaft a few months ago.
