A 4x4 Double Cab 2.8TD for half the price of a Foton Tunland - good work!
|
So I decided to go the JMC route from my previous GWM Steed.
Some pro's and some cons between the two.
The GWM can select 4x4 via a button, where the JMC Boarding must be manually selected at the wheels.
The JMC has a trusted Isuzu KB280 TD engine installed, and yes, it is running a bit louder then the GWM with the common rail diesel injection, but has the benifit of going without a timing belt by using push rods to operate the valve rockers.
The ride of the 4x4 version is more confortable than the GWM due to softer seats installed, in front and rear.
Cost was cut by removing the carpet and replacing it with a plastic cover over the flooring, but for 4x4ing its a plus in my opinion, coz cleaning mud of it is much easier than cleaning a carpet. The same 'leather' seats are installed as in the GWM's.
I still need to take her off road, but on tar and dirt road handling is good, and enough low end torque. A bit on the slow side, but which chinese bakkie is fast ??![]()

Manny finally has a second subscriber to the JMC section of this forum. He must be ecstatic.

The dogs look perturbed.
I wouldn't leave a dog alone with Manny :-)
Vorster judging by the way that you spell Aeronautical in your siggie, did you perhaps think you were buying a GMC, not a JMC?

Just kidding, nice looking bakkie
Thank XJ Junkie. I must say, it truly is a pleasure to drive and feels firm on the road, as well as on the dirt raod. Bit of a bumpy ride, but it would be a bakkie if it was cruising like a s-class Merc![]()
