I have also had loads of little niggles, which other older cars do not display. Frustrating, but mostly the extra R10k per year is a real pain in the butt!

Thinking the same as you now... td4 HSE 2008 with 160000, do I dump it now or hang another 2-3 years and worry about the next fix?

I was Offered R120k trade, its worth way more than that, but will someone pay it??

Even my Landrover mechanic says he owns an older vehicle, the wife has the newer small car that's fuel efficient.
He says these modern vehicles shouldn't be kept past it's warranty or service plan period!
He's obviously seen how much money goes into replacing these electronic components.
The previous owner had to replace the gearbox(automatic) at over R20k.
The price we pay for comfort and luxury...

So I'll take my time to sell the vehicle and get an older Isuzu our Toyota... You should get a little more for yours I think Moghul

Exclamation Re: Freelander 2 Reduced engine performance

    Good day all,

I bought a FL2 2009 SE TD4 179000K last month from a friend and it had problems with starting. The "reduced engine performance" and "low engine performance" would appear on the panel sometimes. 3 weeks ago had to change the solenoid kit and plunger by an auto electrician.
Today the car wouldn't start again! this time the starter is working but the message of low engine performance keeps showing.

The difference here is my car never showed the "Reduced engine performance" while driving. It only happened when I was about to start the engine.
    Your advices is highly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Omid

Check fuel, can run out of diesel when below half if the fuel transfer fails, fill tank and bleed through.

FL2's need to be taken care of by someone that knows then inside and out - your run of the mill mechie or autolec might just stuff it up.

My son's FL2 also came up with the same engine warning and then went into limp mode. The indy diagnosed it immediately as teh diesel filter. Apparently quite expensive and therefore often not replaced. Replaced it and the problem was gone. If you have replaced it for quite some time, a relative cheap fix to try.

FL 2 diesel filter can be bought from LP4A, not so expensive .

Hi, how safe is this procedure? I’ve used quick start before and it races the engine.

    Thanks
