    Default MTB on HP

Would you buy a MTB on HP?

    Not Me!

Note the finance provider, shows how important a market this sport has become.

When you pay just shy of R100k for a Dikwiel Bike I get worried...

Wesbank will finance anything they can add interest to. That is why they are making the money.

There's a company that specialises in this, as well as financing of 4x4 accessories and other stuff, so I guess Wesbank are trying to capture some of this market.

But to finance toys is crazy..

I'll never buy a Scott again, not even cash...

Finance should be reserved for a first vehicle and property. With anything else you're simply paying way more than you should.

For those in the knowhow on mountain bikes, your entry level bikes start at around 15K, mid range from 35K, high end from 70K, top of the range are 120K. Most MTB you see at the races are in the 35K range, I think mountain biking is more popular than 4x4 ing so see no reason why you should not finance a lifestyle.

Scott is a great bike. Their after sales service sucks to put it mildly.

In principle I wouldn't finance toys, like RC truck, gadgets etc but with MTB a being so pricey it is difficult to resist ... Apply same argument as buying a R80k 4x4 as a weekend toy ... Suppose it is still best to wait for a bonus or two to kick in!

    Default I wouldn't...

Personally I would not buy a bicycle on HP, but that is just me.
I would also struggle to justify paying more than R10k for a bicycle, and I probably wouldn't buy a new one...

MTB'ing has become a fashionable thing the last couple of years. Lots of people splashing big money on race machines where a R 15 - R 20k bike will do the same for them.

The other people on sees the flashy bike, not the debt...
