    haven't seen it but one of the other 4x4 mags had a tyre shootout recently and from what i have read on here this one will prolly be a clone of the other one, which was a clone from a us magazine. SA mags don't want to spend the money or don't have the money to spend on a tyre challenge so they just copy n paste.

    Wegry had Giniel de Villiers help them in this test. SA 4x4 had Hannes Grobler help them last year. So SA magazines sometimes do not Copy and Paste

    I think they are detailed in how they have tested and why some some things could not be tested. They did not test:
    1. Tyre strength
    2. Tyre mileage
    3. Tyre in rocky conditions

    Tests was mainly sand, tar and gravel...

    Wat my opval is die koste van die bande.
    My trok het die GY's op, maar dis heelwat duurder as die top 3 bande.
    Ek het gedog dis heelwat meer bekostigbaar as bv die Bridgestones .....

    Well I dont pump my tyres 3 bar thus for me its not a worthwhile test. Why did they use 3 bar. Maybe Geniel has kidney protection built into his drivers suit but I dont have

    Well... I drive very little sand on a regular basis.

    Test has no relevance for me except for the braking tests.

    Stating that a brake test on wet tar is the same as a braking test on dirt boggles the mind!

    Dit was so, tot laas jaar was Wranglers baie kompeterend geprys, weet nie wat nou aangaan nie!

    3 ply on Cooper At3? I know the ST Maxx got 3 ply......

    Bertie, they were seated and left standing overnight at 3 bar...

    The test however was done at 2. "Die druk vir allebande was 2 bar."

    Then on sand: "Daarna moes dit met 1,2 bar banddruk en ’n
    kort aanloop deur ’n voorbereide sandbaan..."

    Ja die AT3 het nie 3 ply nie maar hier is die aanhaling:

    All the tests were done between 0.8 and 2.0 bar - where did you read 3 bar?

    Sorry ek het dit misgekyk. Dan kan ek werklik nie sien hoekom ander vervaardigers apel aangeteken het oor band druk en dus nie bande voorsien het nie.

    I think it was a fair test. Obviously it does not test long term durability nor side wall strength, both relevant to an AT tyre. Also performance on a D/c might not be representative on for instance SUV's. But within reason I think it was done well.

    The test confirmed my personal reservations w.r.t the Pirelli Scorpions (fitted to my vehicle) - good road tyre, but pretty mediocre all terrain tyre actually, perticularly in sand...
